Seriously I've had this a while, I have no idea what it is, havent gotten it checked out before ... but its weird .. mostly in my hands but I can 'feel' it I guess all the time.

I'm guessing most normal people don't feel a constant sensation that you have to move all the time. It's damn near impossible for me to be comfortable just not moving. Like my nervous system is never in rest, never relaxed. But that's jsut part of it ..

In my hands, say you take one of your hands and lay it palm down flat on a surface, like you would if you were going to trace it on a piece of paper. Now lift a finger up, lets say your first pointer index finger, since this is what happens to me the most. When I lift it up my finger literally shakes like crazy. If I concentrate, I can make it go slower. But say when I'm nervous or something it will jump around like CRAZY. It also does it when after I do something strenous like run or lift something. Also if I move my finger around in a circular motion when I lift it up like that it feels very hard to do, and will then move around completely uncontrollabley and tremor like crazy.

Thing is I know its not just my hands, because when I'm weak or tired from doing something strenous other parts of my body do it to a simlar degree, like my arms and legs will shake a little. Also my neck kind of does it sometimes, and I notice it in my toes as well. I have no idea why, but when I drink a good amonut of alcohol it stops the tremor and relaxes me for some reason, but this is only after I drink. I have no idea why it works like that.

I don't know if anyone has any idea about nervous disorders, what this would be, or if its something like a pinched nerve or something really serious like parkinsons ... its been like this a while, even to a degree when I was a kid, and sometimes would get made fun of for moving too much I guess, and I guess most wrote it off as hyperactivity when its really not. I'll probably goto the doctor as soon as I get the money and other medical things are fixed, but anyone have an idea of what this could be?

Too little sleep / too much caffeine? Or you've always been like this..?

Neither, its been like this forever it seems like. I mean I never have drank much caffiene and there was even a period in my life where I didn't drink caffiene for about 2 years straight. I get too much sleep actually, I'm really low energy, but thats another medical problem going on supposedly chronic depression or something.

You're a spaz. Join the club.

I bet you spill things on yourself all the time and can barely talk in coherent sentences.

Nope, neither one. Honestly you couldn't even tell if you knew me now, unless I told you. I'm nowhere near a spaz, im actually very methodical ... its almost a slowness I guess, except for this.

And even i am moderately surprised
does it get worse when people are watching you?

for instance, if you go to the bar and get a pint that is nearly full to the top, will you spill a bit of it normally and almost half of it people are looking at you?

No, I'm not sure it does that. My control in my arms it unaffected most of the time. And I mean if I hold my hands in a fixed position, the ydon't shake either. It's more just like ... tremor with movement. If I'm holding something, I'm in a fixed position usually and it doesn't bother me much. But I might jerk a little if I happen to be doing something in a range of motion. Hard to explain. But my example of my finger fits perfectly. Move it up a little while its flat, it shakes a little. Then start moving the finger around in a circular motion, it starts jerking like crazy.

Once again, there's a good chance none of us are licensed doctors. If youre worried about it, chances are you need to get it checked out. Dont wait for us to tell you to do it.

I've occasionally got those kinds of shakes... just happens pretty randomly... at only lasts a few seconds... doesn't seem to matter what position my body is in...

just seems like some muscle activity gone haywire; like a neural misfire...

I wonder if that puts me in the high risk category for parkinsons.

Well, my fingers/hands do that too, so if you've got a nsd, then I've probably got one too. =/

I don't know nearly enough about it, though you should probably know that I also have ADD and am extremely hyperactive. You sound like you're the opposite of that, so it's probably unrelated...

Not to hijack your thread, but I have kind of similar problems, too, but not in the same places. Like, the most prevelent one, is when I smile, my cheeks twitch slightly, involuntarilly, like where your dimples are (presumably this is where the muscle is pulling your cheeks back, I assume?). When I'm not thinking about it and am laughing or happy about something, it doesn't seem to happen, but if I'm thinking about it (ie if I'm feigning a smile to be polite during conversation), it usually happens, and it seems to react more or less severely if I'm nervous. Also, I get similar pulsations, or tremors, like you do. Like I occasionally get a pulsating movement in the bridge of my nose, or in certain positions my hands/wrists shake. I do have (and have had for much of my exsistence) a very stressful and nerve-racking life.

Anyone who knows about nerves or is in any kind of medical practice have any thoughts about this? Am I proverbially fucked? Or can things like this be remedied by removing stress and anxiety?

My advice, ask people on an internet message board what to do. Definatley don't go see a trained medical professional, those people have no idea, honestly.
