I tried to date a black girl once, I told her all about this black friend I had and then tried to talk with her about the NBA, but she didnt seem intrested.
Did you tell her your best friend was black?
Anyway, I'm black and married an Asian girl. She didn't tell her Mom about me initially. Obviously I was annoyed and frustrated, but keep in mind us Americans are used to telling our parents to shove it. But in many places especially in Asia parents and children have a formal relationship. Sons and daughters are suppose to honor and obey their parents otherwise it brings shame to their family. So it's not easy for them to openly dissent even if they know something is wrong.
That said, I eventually met my wife's family and we get along great. Both sides of our immediate families had no problem with our relationship and also got along. And even a few distant cousins warmed up to us once they saw our child. I think that's God's sole purpose of making mix kids cute so they can bring families together.
I swear, just the other week in a grocery store this old Asian lady gave my wife and I an ugly look. But then once she saw our son tag along behind, her face slowly but suddenly blossomed into a smile. Whatever prejudice she had, she forgot about it for that moment.
I love black women. But in a way I'm glad that I'm in a interracial marriage, instead of just sticking to my own race. My wife's family (which is HUGE) now has a totally different view of black people. Before their only image of black people was from movies, MTV, and the 6 o'clock news, none of which are very flattering. But now a lot of her family members are more comfortable around black people after spending time with me and my family. And what about the old Asian lady in the grocery store. If I was with a black woman, she wouldn't have given me a second look. But by me being with an Asian woman with a kid, it caused a reaction. It might be temporary, but you never know.
So I feel I'm playing a small part in paving a path for better race relations for the future.

So if I occasionally get funny looks in public or ridicule from black people, then so be it.
