I think one of the biggest problems with sequels today is you are completely out of the loop on the story if you haven't played a good amonut of the series. For example I only know a little about the Metal Gear and Resident Evil series, but would like the play the new ones. What's the best way just to find out without having to go back and play the old versions?

Not sure about MGS, but heres a good story guide for the RE games:

I can't believe I'm recommending it, but gamefaqs often has a text dump for a game, that would probably be the easiest way. But it's infinitely inferior to actually playing the games.

If you're interested in Metal Gear, play the series. You won't regret it.

I'll expand on this a bit. I too have thought it would be cool to have a site specifically for summaries of stories, be it from games, movies, books, whatever. Even if someone has gone through a story a refresher is always nice when it's time for a followup or even just a discussion. Haven't noticed anywhere that's really good about this, though. I usually try to find something through Google if I'm wanting something specific...
