My friend wants to start using his old Win 2000 PC again, and he's run into the problem where he can't remember his admin password. This leaves him unable to log on and do anything with his PC.

Is there anything he can do to reset the password?

Erd Command... its software you burn and run on boot, change passwords that way. or it could be more simple.

Last I checked, ERD was a fairly expensive piece of software. There's tons of bootable CD Linux distros out there that'll do this. I can't recall the name of the one I recently used, but a quick Google search should turn up plenty. Good luck.

Here'e the thing. In my web browser, theres this little box. I can type words into it, and it'll coem back with answers. I dunno if you have it, but I do, and it's amazing.

ERD isn't free software? Wow, color me shocked. I never knew that.

I accidentally changed a password of another user's PC and couldn't log on. I booted up in safemode and added a new user as admin and booted back to normal and deleted the old admin.

Ahaha, this should come in useful. I was using my little brother's PC to wifi send things to my DS, and he got annoyed that I couldn't use one of the other computers for this. So in one of his dumb and bad moods, he set his account to a password and soon forgot it. The best part is it was last set to use the wifi card for DS things, so even on the guest account he had no Internet access.
