Anyone loyal to one publisher/developer, through thick and thin?

After reading through the Best Buy and EB threads, I started going through corporate websites checking out developers' direct online stores out of curiosity. It got me to thinking: how rewarding would it be for me if I just bought everything Capcom released on systems I own and played only those games? Or Konami? Or Namco? Or - I imagine this is the most common one - Nintendo?

Does anyone here really have that kind of loyalty to a game maker, that they'll even reward their mistakes?

I'd say yes except for this part. Anyone who "rewards the mistakes" of a publisher or developer is simply a deluded idiot. Even our pet favorites screw up sometimes, and should be called on it.

For example, I'll buy just about anything NanaOn-Sha makes.. But I can't deny that Mojib Ribbon and particularly Vib Ripple totally sucked.
 
Well, I only really support Nintendo and Blizzard. Still, I am very selective with what I buy even it is from these two. Case in point, I'm wary of picking up Geist. I like the concept, but the reviews/recommendations I've been privy to, makes me think twice. Maybe when it's in the bargain bin.
 
Most of my collection is Squenix, Atlus, Nintendo and Konami (MGS and Castlevania mostly. SH1 and 3, but I've been meaning to get 2 and 4. Not sure why I sold SH2).
And while I won't buy everything they produce, (Well, I almost have everything of Atlus haha) I will stick highly to their lines I enjoy.
 
Fuck supporting a companies mistakes, that's not loyalty, that's just abject retardation. I love Atlus because of the Megaten series and some of the quiky games they release here, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna snap up everything they release, like Samurai Western for example.
 
No developer is exempt from the TT syndrom. We live in a day and age where even Mario and Zelda can dissapoint. Developer loyality is a foolish and dangerous game.

Eh, but I'm beginning to tire of this "Know all this stuff before I play the game" schtick the internet has gotten me used to. Absolutely my fault though. Habit I need to break.
I think I'd rather be disappointed by a random purchase than reading up on a game for months and then being disappointed. I've been disappointed more recently, and I'm beginning to think it's not the dev's fault all the time.

Never. SaGa for the playstation one was the first and last game I ever took back to the store the same night I got it and with a somber tone told the clerk "This is just horrible, I need to return it" and then he sighed and said I wasn't the only that came back that night.
 
I'm tempted to pick up Capcom games even when they get crap reviews. Except modern Mega Man games. But they release a lot of titles...and a lot of pretty bad games so...

SNK doesn't make a lot of money from me right now, as I'm almost only buying Neo Geo ROM cartridges....
 
I am loyal to Sega 100%. I buy Sega's games even in the less then stellar period.
Capcom, and Maybe Konami. I do have alot of thier games.

I think it is loyalty.. maybe not the brightest kind, but it definitely is loyalty. But that's splitting hairs.. I don't think it's necessarily retarded to buy below-average games because of interest in the genre, interest in the license, for the sake of completeness, or just out of loyalty to a company. And I know for damn sure, not every game I've ever gotten hopelessly addicted to has gotten great or even good review scores.

I could see myself buying everything Capcom released. They've got a killer library, even if it is blighted with trash like Capcom Fighting Evolution and Monster Hunter.
 
Bungie and Team Ninja are the only ones that come to mind. Bungie's mistepped a few times in my opinion (Myth II, Oni. . ) but I get all excited over the mere mentioning of them.

It's one thing to be loyal, but it's another to be loyal and blind to their faults.
 
Nah.

I mean, I'll keep faith in developers for absurd periods of time (Sega), but I don't spend my money on games that I won't enjoy.
 
square enix and konami are pretty much, in my mind, always dependable for awesome games. same with ubisoft.

aruze has just recently made the jump into fav devos though, as the two shadow hearts games were PHATANTASTALICIOUS. :) they need to bring tres over.
 
Hm, most of my collection is by Nintendo, Sega and Rare, Rare is one of the major reasons for me to buy a 360. So I Think, you could call me loyal to these 3. But I would never buy Pokemon Channel, Kirby Airride, Sega Sports games, Rare Ego-Shoter (as I don't like Ego-Shooter) and many others.

Just to nitpick here, but Sacnoth/Nautilus is the developer of the Shadow Hearts series, where-as Aruze Corp is the publisher. Also, if you haven't heard yet, Shadow Hearts: From the New World is coming to the US early next year thanks to XSEED Games. :)
 
Publisher wise, I would say Nintendo. Capcom and Atlus as well, but only to a certain extent.

Nintendo has earned my loyalty over the years. I feel very tempted to pick up a new Capcom game everytime a new one comes out, but I tend to be more intelligent about my purchases. I say this as I continue to eye Devil Kings. :lol Atlus as well, mainly because I tend to like their games, and they become rare pretty quickly. I'll pick Samurai Western when it's cheap though.

Developer wise, well going with what isn't covered by the above mentioned publishers, I would have to say Double Fine and Insomniac.
 
Used to be inlove with the Nintendo/Rare combo. Had a soft spot for Blizzard as well.

These days, I suppose I'd fetch anything Intelligent Systems makes.
