Gaming’s Twilight Era: Nobody’s Loyal, Everybody’s Marketing

The war is over. Let it go.

The result of a stagnant console market with their never-ending need to make more money for investors. This is only the beginning. Time to enjoy games, not console wars.

Loyalty was stupid to begin with. Being a Nintendo boy prevented me from acknowledging Sega had very good games for years.
If you can afford it, go where the good games are. Vote with your wallet, but vote for quality. Fuck blind brand loyalty. The companies were never into this for your loyalty anyway. They've always been there for the money.

Call me a Nintendo fanboy but I appreciate Nintendo's pivot to the Wii and the creation of the DS more and more as time goes by.
Really hoping the Switch 2 follow up is not a Switch 3.

Well they are starting to raise prices across the board so they're feeling the pressure too.

That said, Microsoft and Sony are way too dependent on stuff like Fortnite and COD. You take Fortnite off Switch and they don't miss a beat. They don't even have COD. The others don't have that luxury. Pretty crazy.

Much like the console wars dying out, I also think that Nintendo's wacky innovative years are over...at least for a long time unless they figure out some sort of new AR-like experience.

They simply don't like VR and they made the right call because it has been struggling to take off as a medium.

I'm still pulling for Sega to make a comeback and put everyone out of business.

Nintendo is legit self sufficient. They can sell 100M+ in hardware off the strength of their first party alone. Nobody else could do this.

As internet infrastructure improves over time Sony is gonna be in trouble. Eventually streaming will be good enough for the masses who just want to play Fortnite and CoD on a TV. As it stands now there are millions of people who play games like this on a fucking phone and see no problem with it. If I'm take 2 or Epic why am I paying Sony 30% when I could keep that for myself?

Nintendo is immune to this because they are self sufficient like that.

We are finally getting to the point where I can just buy a single box and get many of the same experiences as if I bought multiple boxes.

No. Streaming is never going to happen in a way that supplants local hardware.

What IS going to happen though is that console tech with power will eventually be small enough to natively integrate with televisions.

And Sony will sell those units to TV manufacturers (after a failed attempt to use them to push their own TVs).
