Anyone noticing problems with their Catalyst 4.9 drivers?

OK, so I've got an X800XT with the Catalyst 4.9 drivers.

I'm not able to select higher than 6X AA in my Advanced 3D settings.

Could this be something to do with the drivers? What the hell could be causing this, because I find it a bit hard to believe that I can't get higher than 6x with this card.

Pretty sure you don't get higher than 6x AA. I've got an X800 also and I'm using the 4.8s, 6x AA is the max.

ok, so according to the ATI site the card only does up to 6X AA. Now why the fuck did they do that? Older cards can do much better AA.

Probably uses some different type of AA so that 6x is the equivalent of 8x on the older Radeons. Or I could be making this entirely up, but it wouldn't make sense for them to downgrade the AA on newer cards.

Use radlinker to setup user specified options per game, and make sure your using the drivers with the old control panel and not the beta control center. http://www28.brinkster.com/chrisww1942/

By the way, the way AA is handled in the x800 Series is different from older cards so higher than 6x supposedly wasnt needed.

Ecrofirt, do you have any idea what you are talking about? ATI has pretty much ALWAYS had 6x FSAA. In fact their supposed 6x FSAA has in the past been far superior to other supposed 8x FSAA. I mean Jesus even 4x generally brings performance in games down a solid 20% at least, 6x is a great quality for only 10% more whereas the Nvidia solution looks no better and takes a FAR greater hit. Calm down. If you want some big numbers it still does 16x Anisotrophic filtering.
