Hahaha, I just saw this old video for "The Hardest part of breaking up" and, well, I posted this music video review in my blog. Any comments?
------------------------
So I was watching the music video for the song, "The Hardest Part of Breaking Up (Is Getting Back My Stuff)" by the old one-hit-wonder boy band called 2Gether. For those of you not completely there, that's just a snazzy way of saying 'together'. See, most people look at me and stare when I mention the comedic classic that is this music video. But they don't see it the way that I do. So I'm going to take this time to enumerate the reasons why this video is "ze shit", as they say in France.

1) First off, there's a guy in the band named QT. He's dead. Maybe it isn't exactly funny, but I think the rule on music videos starring dead artists is like it is when you get baseball cards of dead baseball players. They go up in value. That's the rule, right? Right. Of course it is. So exnay on the TQ-ay... but the value benefits greatly. He died for a good cause... my entertainment.

2) The video has a guy in here called Kevin Farley. He plays the 'fat' guy in the band. Now, maybe that in itself isn't funny. But what makes it funny is that he's indeed Chris Farley's little brother. So it's tied to ANOTHER dead person, which kind of increases value. But the main reason it's value goes up is because watching Kevin in the video reminds one of what it was like to watch Chris, and that's never a bad thing. Bonus points for teenager jailbait joke in the video, too.

3) Now there's a white rapper in this video. And, as white rappers go, this one opted to say "muhg" instead of the obligatory "muthafucka" or "mofo". Really blanded it up, hm? Well once you see a white guy in a FUBU shirt saying, "Yea yea yea, Mickey Park up in this MUHG"... how can you not chuckle? I surely don't know. Maybe God would know... though I doubt that, too.

4) The best part about this video is that one of the guys in it currently has a real career as a host of While You Were Out on HGTV (your mom probably watches is... since Martha went to jail this is the only happiness our moms have anymore on Sunday mornings). So you know that while watching this video, this dude who keeps it totally real on another show is constantly worried that somebody is going to whip out a 2gether CD for him to sign. Knowing that there are exactly 5... well, now 4, people out there who live with this fear day after day just amuses me to no end. The fact that this guy's whole schtick could be wrecked with one showing of this video on HGTV is even greater. Basically it's the equivalent of watching Ice Dancing on a hill next to the Grand Canyon. You may be able to tap around it for awhile, guy, but sooner or later you'll slip up, and once you do, you're gone.

This video also gets a few extra credit points here. Number one, obviously, is that the girl in the video is scorching hot. Now, a hot girl in the music video doesn't automatically necessitate an awesome rating, but it definitely doesn't hurt your chances. Another honorable mention point is the fact that it's totally tearing on TRL the whole time. I'm not even going to elaborate. Just imagine a music video that SLAMS TRL instead of catering to it. Salivating yet?

See? Don't you wanna watch it now? Go ahead and watch it. It'll make you remember the days of yore, when we could pillage a village and not get in trouble for it. Damn cops... always ruining our fun.

For the record, at one point, I do believe that the carpenters on While You Were Out wore a 2Ge+her T-Shirt and started dancing suggestively. Also, it's on TLC, not HGTV, so it has no relation to Martha Stewart.

And, for the record, the guy was actually a carpenter's apprentice before doing 2Ge+her so he actually helps out and builds stuff, unlike the majority of such hosts. Plus, what 35-65 year old woman, the core audience of the shows, would care, really?

Still, it's pretty damn funny nonetheless.

That guy has incredibly annoying voice, but I thought he was a male model for underwear or something. I saw a commercial for an episode of this where they had some picture of him in some old underwear advertisement, and as soon as he saw it, he ran to hide, laughing, embarassed.

Wasn't 2gether a spoof show? I remember it being kind of funny. That host guy from While You Were Out is actually pretty good and has a decent resume.

From TLC's website:

Evan Farmer brings a diverse array of talents to TLC's WHILE YOU WERE OUT as the host of the hit home design series. In addition to his music career and roles on screens large and small, Evan studied architecture at Tulane University and has worked as both a draftsman and as a graphic designer for several firms. He also recently started his own business (Renovolution) renovating single-family homes, and has a strong interest in carpentry and design. Evan's on-camera presence, combined with his education and real-life experiences, make him a perfect fit to host WHILE YOU WERE OUT.

Evan is well known for his television role in which he portrayed heartthrob Jerry O'Keefe in MTV's smash-hit made-for-television movie, 2GE+HER. He also recorded the lead vocals for the soundtrack and follow-up album, which together went platinum worldwide. The success of the movie spawned a weekly MTV series of the same name, with Evan continuing in the lead role. Evan has also guest hosted MTV's Total Request Live with Carson Daly, the cable network's most-watched television show.

The popularity of 2GE+HER led Evan to an even bigger showcase for his talent — as the opening act for Britney Spears during her 2000 "Oops I Did It Again" summer tour. Evan also previously toured with the hit Russian pop rock group NA-NA, where he sang and played guitar in sold-out arenas throughout Russia. Evan also has a film career, and has acted in films such as Austin Powers 3: Goldmember, and Shaft Returns starring Samuel L. Jackson.

Evan's small screen credits include guest-star roles on the television series JAG, and a recurring role on CBS' The Guiding Light. Evan also lent his voice talent to the popular MTV animated comedy series Daria, for three years.

Evan Farmer is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and is currently single and living in New York City.

QT wasn't a "guy"(read: adult)...he was a kid...he was only like 16yo and died of cancer.

Yeah, 2ge+her was a spoof "reality" show on MTV, spoofing the whole boyband craze...but they ended up coming out with an actual album...figure$.

Yeah, I've got both albums and the DVD that I picked up on clearance a couple years ago because I remembered it was funny.

Wasn't as funny as I remembered, but oh well.
