Its on Netflix. Saw a snippet before and got interested because of the trailer of the sequel.

Pretty sublime stuff, actually. It does a lot with very little and dialogue/storytelling/tension is really well executed. This is one movie you should watch if you want a good written story and the progression to match it.

Saw Green Book.

As most recent Oscar winners I found it enjoyable but nothing special. It's one of those movies where 10 minutes in you know pretty much everything that's going to happen.
The characters are also a bit too exaggerated, the Italian guy seems a bit too dumb and the other one a bit too serious. Maybe it's because I'm catching up with the show but it felt like both could have come from a Brooklyn 99 episode..... the black guy was basically young captain Holt

Sunrise, Sunset, Midnight ... All great films.

If you like unscripted "talking" films with romantic locations and very good acting, then it's 3 films you'll love. Sort of like Boyhood (2014) but a much slower pace. Most of the film(s) are shot in completely uncut longtakes, i think it's brilliant.

The Lobster

I don't really want to even say much about it because I knew pretty much nothing about it going in.

It's like a very dark comedy about a society where you have to find a mate within 45 days or be turned into an animal of your choice. The film is a crazy as it sounds but I really enjoyed it.

Yeah. I thought it was decent enough. It felt like an overbudget TV movie in places, but at the same time when you're hardened professionals, you're going to be on point. My only real criticism would be : -

Yeah, with a big cargo box full of pretty much any weapon/accessory you may need, they didn't grab any suppressors? heh.

A Prayer Before Dawn.

Based on a true story of an English man who gets banged up in a Bangkok prison for drugs. The Thai casting was brilliant. Well worth a watch. 7 thumbs up.

The ending is a bit of a letdown but it's a good time if you enjoy laughing at weird fucked up people and situations. Plenty of nutjobs in this movie.

Just finished watching my second viewing of The Last Jedi. Has a movie in recent history needed a bigger salvage job than the next Star Wars film? Abrams, that director that relies so heavily on nostalgia and genre/franchise defining features, needing to completely save a trilogy in one, and final, film after an absolutely woefully destructive entry that did far more harm than good (by like, 99%-1%)

2) This trilogy would have been far better as old guard Jedi and friends vs Ren.

3) Hux is clearly a Force user incognito. I hope he reveals his true identity early in the next film.

Aquaman 6/10
This was pretty fun but felt like they tried to put a little too much into one movie. It was also pretty corny at times even for superhero movies standards.
Visually it's extremely inconsistent. Fights look great and the actual locations looked fantastic but the CG and real elements didn't blend in very well and everything looked fake as hell. I get why Atlantis looks fake but why do scenes in a freaking pier or the streets of italy look fake as hell too?
The action scenes were great though and it does have moments where the visuals shine

I actually liked the first one but this was terrible. This makes the recent Star Wars movies look good!!!
I don't even know if it qualifies as a movie, it was basically 2 hours of boring, dark and joyless "lore" dump. It doesn't even have all that many "fantastic beasts".

F for Fake (1973)

this is an incredible movie. way ahead of it's time with editing. Orson Welles with a docudrama about a number of famous fakes: Clifford Irving, the man who wrote a hoax autobiography of the famed recluse Howard Hughes, and Elmyr de Hory, a Hungarian art forger, who claims to have painted Picassos & Matisses & many other masterworks hanging in museums around the world. there is cool footage of him drawing fake Picassos and then burning them.

it's a very fast paced film, with a nonlinear narrative, narrated by Welles, and featuring him looking back on his own famous hoax, War of the Worlds. time and time again, all the trickers point out that it is solely the existence of "Experts" that gives them legitimacy. it's funny to think about considering the age we live in now, where news & media agencies host "experts" all the time, and hold a claim to The Truth, while peddling the exact opposite. a wonderful, intriguing, poetic film.

Family gets locked into their own house on Christmas Eve with just a message on the TV to await further instruction. It gets pretty messed up. Especially the ending. Still good tho. 8/10

Captain Marvel was the first movie that I've ever seen in AMC Dolby Cinema and it was awesome. The reclining leather chairs were nice, there were speakers all over the walls & ceiling, and it was really cool.
The movie itself was just as great as I was hoping and I thought both Brie and Sam L did an awesome job.

Dude I LOVE Dolby Cinema. The big theater near my house has IMAX and DC and I always chose DC when I was able to get out a lot. Saw Deadpool 2 and Infinity War in it. So awesome.
