I stopped using it a long time ago after I discovered Bittorrent (much easier, faster, and less of a hassle), but lately I've been looking for older stuff to download and those are really hard to find on bittorrent trackers, they mostly keep it for recent up to date stuff, so I want to try Direct Connect again, but it's been so long that I don't know if it's still functional and practical today? What's the best client to use? Any favorite hubs you can recommend (use PM for those)? Are there new hub rules I should be aware of before hopping in and getting myself banned?

It has a build-in hublist with a filter; all you'll need.

Um, just keep your upload slots above 3 & at least have 4-5 gig of stuff on share & you shouldn't have any trouble with most hubs.

for me DC is better since I am on a 10mbit only hub. I Cancel everything under 500kb/s
