I can recommend watching videos of good players to help improve your game. Observe what they do, their movement, the weapons they choose, the paths they choose through the terrain, what items they hold at any given time, what they drop to make room for other items, where they engage from, when they choose to dip etc. All these little things come together.
I recommend Viss, he's a likable sort and when he breaks things down, he's succinct and easy to take in.

This is perfect. You read my mind! I was going to ask for youtube recommendations on tutorial vids and helpful streams etc. One of my favourite things to do when I take up a game is to watch high level play and then try and incorporate some aspects into my game. Doesn't always go that well but the process is the fun part.

Anyone else getting crashes now on pc after today's update? My game was fine but it's now locked up two games out of three today. Annoying as I actually got a kill in one game.

Where's all the guns in duos? Just had a match where I survived for 10 mins and I couldn't find a weapon anywhere. Every building and crate I found had been looted.

it happens, use jump towers and look for clues of looted zones (opened bins, doors, death crates, whatever)
get used to memorizing server drops, sky trails are your friend

Ok so it's crashing every game in ranked but it's in in duos? Is this the game or my PC? How do I even tell? It's really annoying. Anything I can do to troubleshoot?
Seriously on the verge of giving this game up. It's either a crash or a no gun death in five minutes. No fun either way. Used up an hour of my very limited game time and not sure I've enjoyed any of it. I don't see a path to get any better.
And again, a death in two minutes and now I'm bored watching to see if I get rezzed only to have no gun and die again. Wish I could just leave the match, think my 18 hours playing is mostly spectating my team when I'm dead.
... And we finished with a crash when searching for a match. And it's not just a crash to desktop but a hard lock when it's hold the power button down time. They are all crashes like that.

That sounds like a PC issue man. I've been on for the past few hours and no issues. I've had the game crash in the past but only back to the title screen, never a full lock. My brothers PC was hard locking on him during games, turned out the thermal paste on his AIO wasn't adequate.

Weapon rating is sorta personal. I'd rock R301 and Flatline all day every day. I used to use R99 and Hemlok a lot in S3. S5 BETTER have the Volt and it better be fire. Still remember them announcing the Sentinel on S4 live stream and I was like "Please let this be trolling too."

Isn't the thing with Assault characters being able to carry more grenades happening though? Like how Lifeline gets the bin bonus.
Jetpacks won't happen because Valk is definitely in the works from data mining leaks.
Crawl speed should be a bit faster though but that means Rev would have to get a buff for it also otherwise it's useless.
The rest though IDK I can't see them putting Titans in this ever.

Decided to not jump into ranked and just go casual trios and I'm doing much better. I think I'd just been carried to a rank too high for me (silver lol) and so I'll leave that for a while and just grind out some practise. Getting many more knocks and a few kills too. Watching Viss helped too, man those Viss teach vids were great. Tesseract, you should do one (dunno if you stream).

This is going to sound dumb but I'm glad you are enjoying my favorite game. I remember your thread about this being your first non-Nintendo system and I guess I just assumed that something like Apex Legends would do little for you. Shooter games whether it's going on a killstreak or being the last of the few to survive always gives me a rush, but I think what I like about Apex is the teamwork within the mix where every character brings something to the table and whether your team comes together gracefully at the end or you clutch it up and kill the last person on the other team... I guess it's these moments I don't really get with other games today that keeps me coming back.

No, not dumb. Part of me getting a pc was to learn KB&M for shooters and I'm loving it. It's just so much more satisfying to aim with.
Out of the six or so games I've got with my pc, Apex is the clear winner at the moment. It's just so good in every way and I can't stop playing even though I suck. I had a 3 hour session the other night just in quick play and I never do that.

I deleted and re-downloaded the game 3 times. Every time I think I've had enough of this game, dying 2 minutes in, jumping in with just one teammate (why the fuck does the game do that), having teammates quitting or going solo or spend their time looting everything except my fucking banner and on and on... It's infuriation and I think part of the problem is that it's like gambling, you just can't help thinking one more roll of the dice...
Now if you're good at this game, and have low ping, you're going to have a great time. After 325 games, my status advanced from beginner to permanent beginner. But it's so much fucking fun when it works (for me). I deleted yesterday and today downloaded it again and my first game back in was one of my best. I died when I made a stupid decision to go after a squad by myself, though I thought my teammates were right behind me as we pinged them. They weren't. The enemy was hiding in a trailer, I threw in a grenade and they came out and killed me lol. I should have crouched on the door after throwing it.
The best game I played were as lifeline, but now I'm trying bangalore. The consensus is that lifeline is best for beginners but I'm loving bangalore's smoke ability - as a permanent beginner there's nothing better than being able to hide in smoke. Hide to heal, to conceal yourself when under attack, or when attacking across big open space so you can move without being shot at.

I go to the firing range for about 5 minutes before I play, it helps massively because it's not like CoD where you spawn to an enemy every time to dial your shots in

Okay so... Let's say... Titanfall 3 set AFTER Apex Legends maybe 20/30 years later. Apex runs along it and as the game progresses things they've put into place in Titanfall 3 slowly appear in Apex along with things that Titanfall won't have. Yeah or nah?
