My biggest fear with the movie, given the way casting has been going, is an entirely whitewashed cast. I only watched it recently but with how Asian Americans are demanding more representation in media, this movie in the 80s was filled to the brim with actual Asians. (The jade eyed beauty from Peking looked white but was actually Asian or at least half. Also a penthouse model or something )

It's strange how movies in the 80s were a lot more representative in terms of this. Hollywood seriously went backwards in that regard.

I'm curious how today's casting of The Golden Child remake would fair now. I'm sure that movie will be remade someday.

I've said this before, but The Rock is the furthest thing from the problem with this. He can totally pull off the "cocky action protagonist that fumbles through everything and who's not actually the protagonist" role. The real problem is that it won't be directed by 80s John Carpenter.
