Actively taking an effort to keep Windows users away is much more than just not caring, it means they spent money to make it hard for Windows users to watch the stream. And I'm sure I'm not alone in owning an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air but wanting to use my big PC monitor to watch the stream.
Not updating a product that nobody uses to support HTTPS streaming is not considered spending money to keep people away in my book. If you remember recent streams, they have trouble keeping up with demand as is.

What if the Apple Car is the Apple House?

That's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about how they limit it to the Safari version 0.0.3 versions after the last version of Windows Safari - I seriously doubt there's anything in those 0.0.3 updates that enables these live streams, they just had someone set the limits on the stream to keep Windows users away.

If you got an iPhone or iPad you have Safari, if not Apple doesn't want your business apparently but in Windows you *might* be able to use VLC.

they want your business. they just don't care if you can't watch the livestream of an event. if that means they don't get your business, that's another matter. I suspect the combination of those two things affects such a small audience, that Apple has no reason to change their streaming solution anytime soon.

Iphone/Ipad user here, and I'm not very excited about the Watch at the moment. Hoping apple changes my mind today or surprises with new ipad info.

No, even back then the Windows version did not support HTTP Live Streaming while the same version Safari on OS X did. The 5.1.10 requirement is just a security requirement.

I don't think Apple could announce functionality that they haven't already show that would make someone uninterested in the watch change their opinion.

someone on the fence, yes. I could see some specific app demo make em go "cool, i want it now". but if there'a already no interest? nah, I don't think today will change anything. they've already revealed the main functionality and the design of the watch

I haven't done a ton of research but will the apple watch test blood glucose levels?

edit: looks like dexcom is working on a real time app. Sweet.

My biggest hesitancy with the Apple Watch is that it will be an iterative product, with updates/upgrades inevitably making the 1st generations obsolete in a few years.

I'd rather invest in a classical timepiece that holds its value for what should be a lifetime.

I actually prefer rubber or plastic bands to metal ones for smart watches. Something about classic metal style bands with a watch face like Apples just strikes me as odd.

It was a trick question Marty. It's an economic fact at this point that Apple isn't overpriced no matter what people claim. They price it exactly where the largest number of potential customers and current customers value them.

Checking in for subscription. I think the watch is interesting. But any other watch I have ever bought I have worn for like a week tops lol.

Any idea how long this one'll be? I gotta figure out when to take my lunch to maximize my non-work video time (also, hopefully the Apple Watch info will all be front-loaded, with MacBook fun coming after)

What is Cupertino's most disgusting markup?

I say the iPhone 4 bumper. 29 USD guys...

I don't understand words like "disgusting" used for charging a premium. If people want to pay it, that's their prerogative—if they're fools, well, they lose their money faster. Apple has made its money not by charging $30 for bumpers or selling $1000 "silver audio cables", but for charging a few hundred more for nice hardware and a nice operating system.

Maybe on the bright side traditional luxury watch manufacturers will feel the heat and I can get that Omega I want for cheaper.

Any guides on how to watch the stream btw?

Also I'm staying over 4am for this so it better be good apple.

Go to apple.com on your Apple device or click on the icon on your Apple TV. Or wait for someone to post a link that you can use in VLC if you're using a PC.
