[Arab 'insider]: Ubisoft Has Been Acquired by 'someone'

Given the stock trading halt and delayed earnings report, yeah this is probably correct.

Who cares about who owns ubisoft. All that matters is that they make good games or better games moving forward. I need Splitner Cell remake to see the light of day, same with PoP.

Please be Japan, China, or South Korea... 🙏🙏🙏
Nah... Ubis best games besides BG&E have been dude bros with guns or a sword.

We dont need another anime boobie game.

We need R6, GR, SC, FC, PoP and AC to return to their roots and what made them great. Not cell shaded totally 100 year old school girls with flappy tits

I think the potential silver lining in this is that whoever buys Ubisoft might force them to get back on track to making better games which appeal to more people. Ubisoft hasn't had a good track record lately but they still own a ton of great IPs. They just need better management and direction.

"insider" lol

He was just speculating that Tencent might be acquiring it.

He even said, "What's wrong with these people? I just brought this up for discussion, and now it's become a rumor."

It's not Tencent.
They made a deal and can't increase their shares or outright buy Ubi until 2030.

Somebody else would have to seal it, or nobody did and they're bankrupt.

Im reading the "insiders" posts and he is saying Tencent owns 50% of Vantage Studios, which isn't true, they own 25% unless something changed.

Also he is complaining that he is just trying to have a discussion about 3rd parties being the target of acquisitions and suddenly its being reported as news on websites. lmao

It's a shame Ubisoft never made a new IP around the South Park engine/gameplay. They could have made an excellent Baldur's Gate like-RPG with that.

i bet whoever buys them leans into their worst traits... nfts back from the grave... gatcha... all of it.

Probably.

I'd love to see whoever buys them turn them into more of a prolific AA studio rather than AAA. Put out a variety of smaller simpler games with wider appeal. Much of Ubisoft's IP's would lend itself well to this.

So does this mean I need another store app on my PC?
Watching as all the Ubisolft games I bought over the years that require the Ubi Connect, just poof into nothingness.

If the new owner makes them put out a good Splinter Cell game:

A 25% stake in Vantage, but it's effectively probably more like 40% once you consider their indirect stake in it via Ubisoft>Vantage, and their indirect indirect stake in it via GuillemotBros>Ubisoft>Vantage.

Yeah I'm sure the Chinese would totally not meddle with Tom Clancy IP lol...probably half the reason they'd buy it is to rewrite the scripts.

I don't buy that global adversaries of the West would particularly want to intervene to stop an ideology which is severely undermining the West either. They don't want that degeneracy destroying their societies; they don't give a shit about it destroying ours.

It makes more sense for these adversaries to buy out our media when it's available at fire sale prices (due to market rejection of woke degeneracy), in order to prevent it being auto-corrected towards normalcy by the market, rather than to help with that correction.

It's a funny meme that China (or some stronghold of Islam) will come in and suddenly that's the end of woke because they are inherently anti-woke, but I don't think people should expect that. It's a cultural WMD moving from the hands of domestic enemies to foreign enemies, which would not be much to celebrate.
