[Arab 'insider]: Ubisoft Has Been Acquired by 'someone'

Well, if it's not from the middle east, it's from China

Remember that Arabia has a nice piece of Nintendo...

The future looks bleak

The great poetic irony of companies waging culture wars only to get bought out by people who actively hate and suppress the cultures they forced into games will never not be funny.

It's an endless cycle of shelf owned stupidity.

1. Say people need to relate to the character on screen.
2. Say minorities need representation
3. Release such game with low sales
4. Blame majorities who didn't buy it because they can't relate to character on screen.

If you are aiming to please a subset of your potential customers you should be fully aware many people who would otherwise buy it, will now not buy it.
If these people are racist / whateverist, then so is the subset of people you are targeting.

Personally, i feel lucky i don't have the need to relate to anyone and i see beyond the gender or color of the skin of the character. Because no matter what they are packing in their jeans, i am too fat to roll all over the map like that anyway.

It sounds like an anecdote!

Arab insider: "Ubisoft has been sold!"
- Where are these investors from? Qatar? UAE? Saudi Arabia?
- Zimbabwe.

So woke

Sony buying exclusives doesn't make PlayStation less woke.

I do as well; however, when it is forced in a patronizing way, I flat out ignore those games. Case in point, Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Sony funded and published them. Not "buying exclusives". Most importantly if Sony was woke, it won't be publishing them.
I called PlayStation woke and it undeniably is, it's not even an argument. Sony paying to publish games that were being developed anyway doesn't change what PlayStation has become.

He adds in his followup posts that it's purely a discussion and shouldn't be treated as news. Still he's clearly pointing toward Tencent.

Yes, i think i discussed that recently with another user.

Sometimes it feels extremely out of place and i can't focus on the game because of how weird it feels.
Shadows is a good example for me.

Black samurai in an otherwise convincing setup.
I had no idea the lanterns were chinese or some fruit couldn't be found there or other historical inaccuracies. But that black samurai sticks out like a sore thumb. It's an element out of place.
Keep in mind i loved Afro Samurai but the setting there doesn't try to be realistic.

I don't care for the female Shinobi. Imo the female body is better suited for assassin type of characters anyway.

The games I mentioned are published by Sony Interactive Entertainment who manages all Playstation studios and publishes all first party games. Once again why will Sony fund and publish Stellar Blade if it was woke?

Paying for an exclusive to help prop up your brand isn't the same as supporting and nurturing the woke slop they produce in house. One is a tool the other is their identity. They put their money and effort behind what they truly care about.

The irony is these very same investors buying said companies, also invested in them to push said culture wars. They're playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

Like I said before, no one influenced by the woke will publish Stellar Blade.

Sony privatized an already existing game, that's not the same thing as funding it.

Once again why will Sony fund and publish Stellar Blade if it was woke?
To fill their empty lineup with whatever was ready at the time and looked good enough while being affordable enough.

What they produce speaks louder than tossing some money at an exclusive contract. If you don't think what they chose to make is woke then that's you. If you want to repeat yourself again and again go ahead but it won't change anything when their next slop release hits the shelves.

This has been debunked so many times already. The game was just a sketch, it took 3-4 years and people from Sony XDEV helping to make it. Shift Up themselves said that without Mr Shu, there would be no game, at least in its current form.

There's a woke Sony in the shape of Hermen and co. and there was another one with Yoshida, which has also helped in the development of Phantom Blade Zero.
