That's entirely reasonable. That's not what it is.
As I have said in other threads in the past, we can't see everything. 90% of our actions are done through the report feature.
I will sometimes action or step in to "course correct" with a reminder post if I am hanging out in threads and see something myself as well.
We rely on the report feature. If we don't see many reports, we assume the community is operating and tolerating the current state of the climate (sorry Greta).
If you see a post that you feel is trolling or stepping over the line, please utilize the report feature. I can't stress that enough. But with that said, don't abuse it either. Some posts, while fanatical in tone, are not actionable and should be challenged back. Those are usually the ones we reject.
This community is each and every one of yours as well. Help shape it and be more proactive and less reactive.
Thoughts?
That's entirely reasonable.
I've also seen far worse on other forums.
Just have a strong hunch there's one mod out there who's a bit biased since the next-gen rumors and news haslve really started recently.
Not worth any drama though, but I can see the point OP was making.
Like I said, it's not worth any trouble.People will have their preferences, that is human nature.
I can assure you however, that it doesn't impact their moderating. Actions taken are by committee more often than not. Especially by those of us that have a preference, we will ask for fellow mods to take a look at it.
Great group of moderators here that don't put a bias flex on the situation. None of us "go rogue". We are not infallible, so there are times where an action one of us did is reversed when a different perspective is brought to our attention byEviLore or other admins.
We keep an open mind and talk it out, and vise / versa. Always stay learning.

In general I think the mods do a great job.
Fisco? The mod team was pretty good at time... the bad fruits create the other forum lolIt's great that you guys learned from the whole Bishoptl fiasco. Well done! Keep up the great work.![]()
Additionally, administrators have access to a "moderator log" that shows what action was taken, on what post/thread, by what moderator, when, and even that moderator's IP address. While we may not continuously monitor this log, it's available for us to review if the need arises.
So i made a joke post about MS had no good exclusives this gen in this thread: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/least-favorite-microsoft-exclusive-this-gen.1518370/
but it was deleted because it was "too old", but people were laughing, but even if it's not funny so what? i thought we had freedom of speech here unlike the other place
why did you do this my dude?
Except you do it all the time.
No...and fuck you for suggesting that we should. /sAnti this, anti that, can we all just get along?
What ever happened to Bish? Did he leave during the schism? I remember when he was one of the mods you should never fuck with during my lurker days.I hope this is this, internally, referred to as the "Bishoptl contingency."
I agree. But I never liked that time. Too strict and many hiveminds. I was too hesitant to post at times. I just didn't want to be jumped on by hiveminds fulla ignorant idiots who thought they're funny but were far from it. I'd quickly get myself in trouble. Like how era is like now. I very much prefer gaf now. What ever happened to Bish? Did he leave during the schism? I remember when he was one of the mods you should never fuck with during my lurker days.
the memes were glorious

Pretty sure he went to Restera. He was affiliated with Sony. I remember checking his Linkedin profile and he worked on stuff with Sony, and was buddies with a Sony director or something. What ever happened to Bish? Did he leave during the schism? What?Um. What?
Ah, Id believe that. Though i dont recall him showing much of a bis. He was usually the buffer when it came to xbox one shittposting prior to and after the revealPretty sure he went to Restera. He was affiliated with Sony. I remember checking his Linkedin profile and he worked on stuff with Sony, and was buddies with a Sony director or something.
The question i was asking was more related to whatever happened to bish, i guess i got a bit confused when i read "i agree"What?
I feel like there is so much story here that could be told but I'm not the one who's going to type it all out. What ever happened to Bish? Did he leave during the schism? I remember when he was one of the mods you should never fuck with during my lurker days.

for a moment i thought you replied to the wrong post. But rereading the post, i get it now.

Nah, no trouble at all mate. We are having an open and transparent conversation.
This is healthy.
I thought NeoGAFwas owned by Sony
From my short time here, I can vouch for thisVawn you are literally the worst xbox drive by shit poster on this board, you can't go a Microsoft thread without posting in it with negative comments even though you never plan on buying or choosing one. Deadset unhealthy.

The post was deleted as it really offered nothing to the debate. You're right there is a line of levity that we let users walk and on the surface it seems quite an innocuous comment. It was the first post in the thread however and all comments like this do is derail and antagonise other people. In terms of originality, these are two (of three) reports from that thread. One yours, one another user. Notice the post content:

Both these posts have been deleted. We're all for fun, memes and a bit of good natured ribbing but some of the low effort throwaway comments are tiring. Because a lot of users have seen them. Moderation is about fairness and in this case, the chance for people with Xboxes to have a discussion about the quality of their IP's without shitposts, trumped your need to get a quick joke in (and a couple of other posters).
As illustrated above the joke is old and was worn out a long time ago. Similarly, if someone had gone into the 'Least favourite PS5 exclusive' thread and dropped 'Sony don't make games, just walking simulators' as the first post - it would have been moderated the same way. Now if the burn was legit or a brand new reaction gif (that GAF is famous for), we might have been inclined to leave it just for originality and effort. I'm sure you can see that's not the case here.
We let as much as we can go, in this instance we could have just issued a reply ban, but the decision was to delete the post and just send you a notification as to why it was deleted and hopefully you'd see why it was done. It seems you can't which is unfortunate. When we take actions they're not always to be seen as personal slights. The decision taken are usually based upon the least intrusive action to keep/course correct the thread. We can admit some things that crosss the line do invoke hearty laughs our end but there is a community as well to cater for. And making that experience miserable for others by persisting with worn out cliches sometimes has to take a back seat to perceptions. Having a thick skin is fine when people want to air certain opinions or thoughts. But there is also an element of developing a bit of thickness when acknowledging that certain posts don't actually bring a lot to a thread, and contextually don't land. Peace out.
I was never a fan of mods coming in, making a post then locking it, so I'm going to let this run for now. There's not really more I can add to the above, but you should have the right of response at least. If it derails further after that then it may get locked by myself or another mod subsequent to that

Had I posted that same comment in a Sony thread, I would be banned. So i made a joke post about MS had no good exclusives this gen in this thread: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/least-favorite-microsoft-exclusive-this-gen.1518370/

Someone accusing Xbox bias on Neogaf.com the site that XBox fanatics call SonyGaf on and off the site???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
That made me lolTheir payment comes in the form of Xbox exclusives.
So no, by definition, there's no payment coming in.
Why did I know this would be a thread by a Sony fan and NOT a Nintendo fan?
So predictable... It's boring
