I have noticed an increase in people coming back to politics to laugh at Trump supporters but im also noticing a lot of new posters taking part in off topic and gaming.

I think this is a good sign, and am curious as to what the reasons are.

Never went to Resetera because <opinion of what it was> , <bannedsite> a bit, but generally life stuff caught up and i couldn't. In for a last poke around i guess.

To read the 5965934th member that got banned for ''Imflammatory comparisons'' being angry about that, it just does nothing anymore.

long story short:
GAF had some problems in 2017. The people which caused the problems created a new forum that we abbreviate "REE" here, and most GAF members went to over there. In the meantime, a lot of them came back, because they either got banned over there or it dawned on them that this other site is a shithole.

I agree, focusing too much on politics, especially foreign politics, these last few years really took a toll on my mental health (that and COVID lockdowns ofc). I was angry, happy or depressed about things that didn't even have an impact on my day-to-day life. It was stupid.

I went through some "digital detox" after the US election and it felt so good ! You know how insignificant to your existence these left/right squabbles end up being once you tune it all out. Not to say ignorance is bliss, but too much information kills information (and your sanity). Better focus on yourself, your family and your community. Do something productive and meaningful. Self-improvement feels so much better than that stupid dopamine hit every time you browse asocial networks. If only more people knew that...

I'm gonna do the same as you for 2021, keep politics and political discussion to a sane minimum. Not abandoning it, I'm a citizen after all, but simply clearing out the noise.

Nothing stupid that Biden says in the the next 4 years will come close to the the least stupid thing Trump has said over the last 4 years (and they have been over a million head shaking stupid comments by that turd). Biden's comments will just be confusing more than anything.

Most of it doesn't matter anyway except for the loonies on the fringe. I largely checked out as well and I didn't realize how much it was weighing me down, even though the candidate I wanted won.
