I apologize, I asked in the online forum, but no one reads that. I had an update download earlier today when I booted it up and now I can't log in. So...re-installed everything, etc. but now it won't register my files so I can't even play HL2. Argh. Just trying to figure out if the problem is on my end, people seem to complain about connection problems a lot at official sites so it's hard to get a read on things.

Edit: Steam has been giving me random connection errors during the past 2 weeks or so...and from what I hear it doesn't seem to be an isolated issue

I was playing HL2 30 minutes ago. Trying to beat the game once and for all.

... but then I had to deal with friendly AI and just turned it off.

I just tried it and had no problems with it. Try restarting steam.

man, the AI problem isn't THAT bad.
It was only mentioned in the reviews I think because it's basically one of the only remotely negative things you could say about the game.

I've tried everything. Going nuts. First I got a "Can't load platform modules", so I did a clean sweep and re-installed Steam. No matter what I do it fails to log in. I get an error message saying that I can't log in and there's either a problem with my system or the Steam network. Can't find a problem in anything blocking it. It seems to update. I even deleted the platform file so it would update that...nothing. Damn!
