Arguably the greatest arm wrestler of all time almost lost to a random girl

John Brzenk, considered by many to be the greatest arm wrestler of all time, almost loss to a random girl.

John was doing an exhibition at a convention facing people there, and at 0.32 seconds, the girl starts to get at advantage on him, unfortunetely she does cheat by using two hands, but she was beating John before she had to resort to that

Yes I'm 100% certain he wasn't just letting her get the advantage to be cheeky and fun with his fans.
She was legitimately winning!

He looks like Brian from Ninja Sex Party, but you can tell they were goofing and he let her get that far down.

I bet he was careful to apply just enough force to each opponent so as not to snap their arms in half. He could probably beat two reasonably sized guys at the same time.

I don't get how John be beating people that look like they have bigger muscles than him

It’s not actually about having the biggest muscles...stretching is actually more important in this sport as it trains your tendons to resist and stretch when presented with an opposite pull...one he resists the initial push he angles his body and drives his arm down

Arm Wrestling requires a great deal of skill and massive upper body strength. He was just playing with the lady. See this guy, he easily beats two big guys at the same time;

Arm wrestling includes a great deal of faking it/playing, to throw your opponent off guard.

I don't get how Devon Laratt be easily defeating strongman in armwrestling.....people like The Mountain

but isn't Hathor stronger than Devon? shouldn't he have the advantage here?

He might be stronger in this position/movement, but he has no technique. He has no idea what he's doing. There are subtle dynamic movements and angles you can do with your wrist, shoulder and elbow to give yourself massive strength modifiers by way of simple biomechanics. This takes time to learn.

good point, the only arm wrestler that can get away with no technique and pure strength now a days is Denis

As a kid I used to think arm wrestling is kinda cool, but after seeing (and hearing!) that video of an armwrestler's arm snapping in half, it has lost all its appeal to me and it's something I never want to watch again because it makes me physically uncomfortable.

Yeah injuries are common. Your bone breaking is one of the best outcomes as bones can be set and heal nicely. If one of your muscles tears too much or tendons are torn off the bone then you will never be arm wresting again. That shit don't heal properly.

It is very easy to break bones, especially if you don't know what you're doing, it takes very little force. eg.

My buddy used to powerlift competitively, and he still out lifts me in the gym, plus he's 240 to my 170.
I sometimes have my work truck at the gym, and he asked me how much my 28ft fiberglass ladder weights. I showed him how "light" it is by taking it off the rack, and carrying it with ease. Then I re-racked it and let him try. He almost dropped it (It's $700), if I didn't intervene.
Technique matters.

Not gonna watch the video, but just the pic looks like an accident waiting to happen.
Whoever is holding their hands is a fuckin idiot for letting them sit at such awkward angles.
