The Hawk Tuah Girl Launched a Meme Coin, Everybody Lost Their Money

Nothing brings me more joy than seeing cryptobros lose money.
Except cryptobros are the ones that made money, desperate people wanting a "get rich quickly" scheme were the ones that lost. You might say it's idiots losing money, but in the past you got stupid at a casino and lost $100, not $10 000. Crypto just makes it way easier to scam people.

Can't believe people trusted a random slag who talked about cock sucking to a stranger, some people really are thick.
You are missing the point.

Same shit could be said about bitcoin bazinga 15 years ago.
And see how it panned out.

Financial pyramids are very profitable, if you get onboard early.

Life in 2024 should be more than "lol Darwin", in fact the government should not allow for this shit to happen to begin with. Oh wait, that's the US?

What? People are free to do whatever they want with their money.

Putting all your savings into ANY investment is a dumbass idea. In 1999 my dad put like 30 grand into one toy website, for the dot com bubble (sorry dad, you're an idiot, but it wasn't the Government's job to keep that from happening).

It's your job not to be an idiot with your cash.

Also, fuck you and your condescending attitude.

Rough day? It's only Monday, how about you take a few days off posting?

Regarding "free to do whatever they want with their money" - man, how about we just let people not save for retirement? Then when they have no money and are starving at the age of 70 we just say - "fucking idiot". Or even better - how about they not use safety belts? They are free to do whatever they want with their body, right?

I get it, "free to do whatever you want with your money" means "don't pay any taxes or into any social safety net system", because...well, just because!

That is a bit of a false equivalence no? Also I don't think saving for retirement is compulsory anyways, and least not where I live. If you don't save for it you'll just have to get by with the state pension.

There has to be some government safeguarding and guidelines but in this case the people losing money are just the "bigger fools" in the standard crypto life-cycle. Getting caught up in this after all previous examples is not really excusable, and I don't see what a authorities could do except outlaw all these crypto ponzi schemes including bitcoin... and is that even possible?

So I would just be buying it to sell it on to someone else before it crashes? Even in the best good faith version I'm just looking to pass it off onto some rube so that I'm not the rube left holding it?

Man, the journey from "says funny thing on Tiktok" to this is so surreal yet also predictable.
21 century micro celebrity.

It's also quite possible that she was just exploited and naive.
Her whole career post her initial video. Coattail riders and people "guiding" her is the impression I get.

Not to say she's dumb or doesn't have autonomy, but what person in their early 20s would really know enough to combat all that?

She's obviously been duped, but that doesn't take blame away from her.

If a cryptocoin launches and fizzles out, why is it her fault? Did she do something illegal manipulating the price?

Kinda, don't trust most headlines about this subject. She promoted it, so she can't escape that and hired a bunch of bad actors to launch this dogshit.
What actually happened is the token launch got sniped (sophisticated users are able to buy most of the circulating supply before everyone else), then there's very little tokens to buy in the pool and the price goes up exponentially when someone buys. Then snipers dumped it all, while at the same time "early investors" also dumped their bags. This is all on chain and verifiable so yeah, she's probably fucked. At least a hefty fine she won't be able to escape.

The drama

I can just imagine her dumb ass hearing $1 million dollars on this call and reacting like the 8mm villain when he finds out he only got paid pennies in comparison to others lol. She’s also probably liable as the name of the brand. I’m sure she checked out all the paperwork with a lawyer before signing anything right…

She is going to jail, financial scam in the US is way worse than murder, especially crypto since the banks love to paint a bad image of it.
Oh jeese, if she and that Luigi guy get stuck in a holding cell together...imagine how beautiful the babies would be :p

Hallmark, have I got a script to pitch to you!!!!

I listened to the most recent episode of her podcast (God help me). I didn’t realize she had a thick southern accent. It’s pretty cute sounding coming from a small 20-year-old girl.

One of the guests mentioned that everybody in her family had been to prison except her. Then Hawk Tuah girl said several in her family had been to prison as well…

It's a gamble also with crpyto and they lost, get over it.

Saying the people deserve it isn't a million miles from the psychopaths saying the CEO deserved to be murdered on a street. It doesn't matter if you don't like the person, or you fancy the cunt. Murder is murder, fraud is fraud. Once you start making allowances for these things based on your own personal preferences you flush civility down the toilet and then in five years you'll be all "oh however did e get to this point???".

They can deserve it and she can also belong in prison for fraud. Both things can be correct.

Is it fraud? I'm not super up to date on this story, but isn't it as simple as she launched a meme coin, people got in, it crashed and they lost money? If that's the case, that's not fraud, that's just how the markets work. Unless she guaranteed they'd make money on it or said the coin did something it didn't.

Alledgely there is insider trading involved. Its more than just the coin crashed.

Not up to date on this but someone said it had to do with how the coins were bought and sold? No idea how accurate that is.
