ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON |OT| Souls in the Shell

Alright I beat the Juggernaut the other day. Man what a boss, can't be hurt from the front, moves rapidly an keeps turning around, spams missles and bullets nonstop, and will even rear-ram you when you manage to get behind it. I had to stay in the air as much as possible and only land to refill my stamina gauge. My two plasma missile launchers chipped away at its health until the end. Staggering and hitting wiht the plasma blade couldn't work for me.

So now I reached the infamous Balteus. I wasn't expecting a boss after a boss! But I think I can beat it.

Music of the Batleus is so good.

I beat Balteus. Man what a fight... so fast-paced and intense. You need to manage stamina and get used to the attacks like in Souls games and dodge at the right time. It's like Souls mixed with Ace Combat -- a lot of flying around, dodging missiles, and struggling to get a lock on. The music is amazing, not a style commonly found in the games I play. Honestly I found Balteus to be easier than Juggernaut.

I beat the sea spider boss. Looking forward to what comes next. The visuals in the sunset missions, when my mech is standing outside, are very impressive, the lighting is realistic. And the various parts and weapons have some really badass designs, an excellent incentive to replay missions. I painted my main mech like the Eva 02. I love this game!

I beat him a couple days ago -- definitely the hardest boss imo. By comparison, the final boss was a welcome piece of cake.

What worked for me is using a pulse gun in each hand, a Stun Needle on my right shoudler and the pulse blade on my left shoulder to switch out with the pulse gun. The twin pulse guns quickly wear down his pulse armor, and the Needle and blade inflict good damage when he is staggered. The hardest thing though is dodging the huge dual laser beams at the start of phase 2. I found that equipping reverse joint lege helps me get some altitude quickly.

I'm already on chapter 2 in NG+ cause holy crap I love this game -- despite some infuriating bosses that get outdone by subsequent bosses. I don't know if I'll do NG++ for the third ending, but right now I'm having a blast. I destroyed Balteus on first try, it goes to show how powerful I became compared to the early game.

Nice! This is pretty much a copy of my build but I used two Stun Needles. I finally got the bastard.

Not sure why but I kept failing to dodge one specific attack. I'm on NG+1 now and definitely going to do another play-through and maybe go for all achievements

Thank you to Danjin44 Danjin44 for shaming me into giving the game another try. I'm absolutely loving it

My fellow Ravens, I need some advice.

I got the Liberator of Rubicon ending on my first playthrough, and now on NG+ I’m trying to get the Fires of Raven ending. But the online guides got me confused. They say to choose a decision mission that I already did on the 1st playthrough: Eliminate the Enforcement Squad. I want to choose the other mission, the one where you fight the Cataphract, but I also want to make sure I don’t lock myself again into the Liberator of Rubicon ending.

So what are the missions I should look out for that actually lock the player into one or the other ending? Is it just the decision near the end to side or not with that one NPC? Or before that?

Better late than never. This is the second AC game I've 100%, the first being AC For Answer.

Would have been done earlier, but Fate/Samurai Remnant and FFVII Rebirth kept me busy for most of the past year.

I sorta did random S ranks before deciding I wanted to go for the Platinum. My last mission to S-rank was "Destroy the Drive Block". Meaning I had to beat Arquebus-Balteus (without dying) as my final obstacle to the platinum. That was satisfying. (Referring to my main build above, I swapped my laser lance for another Zimmerman, and swapped Assault Armor for Pulse Armor, the MVP for his bullshit plasma blade spam).

I had two other backup builds, a lightweight and a tank, both with dual Zims and dual Stun Needle Launchers. Only on two missions did I straight-up copy an online build to S rank it (Escort Weaponized Mining Ship and Coral Export Denial).

I've been waiting for a discount on PSN because I've never played any of the other AC games so today I bought the game.
I'm on the 3rd mission now and I really like it despite dying several times when that first "miniboss" appeared during the first mission. I can see myself dying a lot until I start getting a better sense of the fundamental movement/combat mechanics.

I'm a bit surprised at how beginner friendly it is in some ways, i.e being able to replay missions for more cash, selling parts for the same price etc. I guess that is more or less necessary though, as far as I understand you are required to experiment a lot in order to progress once you hit those walls?

My first real question that immediately popped up in my mind is whether it's worth exploring during missions or just head for the objective?
Any other beginner tips I should know about?

Later on you get combat logs by hunting down specific enemy which get you unlock extra parts. When you do mission for the first time you dont have worry about ranks so you can explore as much you want and find combat logs.

You only get ranked when you do replay missions.

Also some maps has chests you find parts.

So are these logs more or less in every mission area or in the larger ones? Are there ways to see whether there are logs in an area? I've tried using the scanner and it seems relatively short ranged in regards enemy detection, can it detect logs/chests?

Edit: Ok, I just found the stats page for the head part, seems very much possible to improve the scanners range and other properties then.
It's kinda funny how From Software always "hide" tons of essential info on stats etc. in the non-default view.

Not every mission, the mission briefing you see under reward section if it has had battle logs.

Its pretty easy first time through up to a point where you gonna have to start tinkering with builds. Where you need to know what parts affect what stats, and it can be a bit confusing to make a build that works well if you dont understand this. Took me a while to really figure out, but by then you will be making builds on the fly and have a few archetypes saved.

You can press one of the face buttons iirc to bring up the stat relations for each item slot, similar to how it works in fx Dark Souls.

Well, I have arrived at the Balteus boss and damn this shit is intense. I'm going with a mobile lightweight build but I'm thinking of trying out a different approach. I've got the Pulse guns so at least it makes short work of his shield, but after that I can't seem to deliver enough damage. Got hin down to a sliver of HP and died on like the third try which made me pretty confident but now I only seem to do worse every time.

Might need a break, can't remember a game being this intense since Returnal. But one hell of a game it is, that much is certain!

Edit: Beat that SOAB now, dual pulse cannons to get thr shield down, switching to dual shotguns and just assault boost-kicking him/blasting him melted him really quick.
