Actually it adds layers of strategy- you have to juggle picking the right combo with keeping one eye on your opponent. Skillshot, volleyball, and basketball all have mindgame potential.
People should still know the combo system if they want to beat human opponents. Though I think seekie/homie might be the best heavy arms in the game. They ruin the AI. Really want to test on Min Min.
Right, there is strategy and some interesting rules behind the scenes for each, but I prefer VBall and Hoops because they do not suckActually it adds layers of strategy- you have to juggle picking the right combo with keeping one eye on your opponent. both medium, yes.Aren't they medium?
<3 lets be friendsShameless gush: This game is freaking awesome. It feels like a Dreamcast game in the best possible way.
Been enjoying Grand Prix and Party Mode but would love to have fights with NeoGAF's skilled players and possibly get my ass kicked a lot. I'm West Coast USA. Friend code is SW-2703-4247-4805.
Any GAF rooms going right now?
The guides are inconsistent. Although I don't see any references to "medium" or "heavy" in-game. What I can tell you is that the missiles deflect a fair number of gloves, but not the megatons.Aren't they medium?

I don't think there is any grinding method faster than getting good in ranked. 8+ per win (more the higher your rank).
I got perfected twice by a Ninjara player. And he didn't even grab. Lol
Yep, but after you throw that resets the flow of the fight, where as with the Chilla it stacks the freeze time on the enemy the more you hit them with charged Chillas, putting more pressure and keeps the flow in your favor. 150 (+100 from the initial punch) guaranteed damage sounds good, but consider this: You land the Freeze effect, and instead of grabbing you throw your Megaton. This does 110 damage, and the opponent is still frozen; so you throw your chilla again, re freezing them, dealing another 90 damage, and setting them up for a second Megaton. You have done 310 damage so far after landing your initial freeze, AND you still have momentum in your favor since the opponent is still locked down from Chilla.
Sure you have to work a bit more to land those extra hits on a stationary target, but the pay off is better IMO.
Yeah Hoops is great and I seem to be pretty good at VBall. Curious as to what arms are particularly useful for Hoops.I really like Hoops. It's a mindfuck in a way because so many ppl get throw-happy and you can punish the shit out of that while building up rush.
Good point, there seems to be no references in game to weights! I think I only see them as Medium on any guide though. They'll deflect all the lights and be canceled by mediums. The Megatons are Heavy and will be only canceled by other Heavies (Megawatt, Blorb, Whammer)The guides are inconsistent. Although I don't see any references to "medium" or "heavy" in-game. Are you grabbing people by any chance? That's the "everyone focus on me" button in a 1v1v1Why does everyone hate me in 1v1v1 and always gang up on me haha
I don't grab often, only on larger stages with lots of space/blockers.Are you grabbing people by any chance? That's the "everyone focus on me" button in a 1v1v1

Is anyone available right now for a few fights? I've got a toothache so I can play right now lol.
Revenge?
Sure

Also Snake Park needs to be taken off of the Ranked rotation. Fucking stupid ass stage, bitch.
Came here to post something similar. I was impartial on the game when it was announced, but after sinking some time and getting past the learning curve I'm head over heels for it.
The controls finally "clicked" for me the other night, and I went from getting repeatedly dominated in rank 4 grand prix to rarely getting beat. So fun.
I even rushed home right after work and snuck in a few games before getting the kids, that rarely happens.
Fuck Ribbon Girl.
Me and a lot of the fighters I come across in ranked have a silent gentleman's agreement where we don't get on the snakeboards. It's a pretty good map without them.Yeah a stage like that should be far, far away from a mode you're supposed to take seriously.
It's funny... I am not good at fighting games in general, but in the testpunches I won like 90% of my matches. Now that good players know what they are doing I am scrub tier.
Still fun as hell

This is a huge turning point yup.The controls finally "clicked" for me the other night, and I went from getting repeatedly dominated in rank 4 grand prix to rarely getting beat. So fun.
Seriously you nailed it!I know, right.
I mentioned this a few pages back, but ARMS is Virtual On with the personality of Power Stone. Pure Dreamcast era arcade joy.
Some deeefinite similarities to my setup and play concept I bet. I'm typically megaton left hand, chakram right.I think I'm maining ninjara. I go wind popper left hand megawatt right hand.

Not coincidental, you have just described exactly how to fuck ribbon girl right back. She seems crazy versatile though.I totally feel this, but I've recently had okay-ish luck trying to punish her just as she's landing from her multi-jumps. Maybe it's coincidental? All of her best movement options are in the air, so I feel like it's much easier to hit her when those options are taken away (i.e. as she lands).
I'm confused on how to get arms. I finally got 30 coins and did the short timer, but I missed ge package that floated by.
So it appears I got no arms from it? On the set arms and character selection screen there is a yellow number 1 above each character, but no one has any new arms. What am I missing?

Snek park is flawlessly designed for serious play
All tournaments should be set to snake park only. Taylor Swift only. Only snake themed Arms are allowed.
No items unless there are some snake related ones that can be added in
Match results may be overturned if one combatant can hiss more convincingly than the other
Gore, what do I do to join a lobby or whatever.
Boy imagine twintelle with booty shortsWith how they're giving closer look to the clothes the characters wear and the brands, I can't help but to feel we'll get some sort of outfits in future.. I wish.
