I bought an Envision Pro and an Xbox Elite 2 a few months back. Returned the Xbox controller and kept the Envision. It's a great controller with nice feeling buttons and the nicest feeling grips and faceplate I've felt on a controller (it's a very very thin rubberised layer that's barely there. Almost like a coating).
I didn't like the clunking hollow sound of the Elite 2.

I'm interested in a new controller. Maybe one of the 8bitdo. Problem is I've got a Bone controller that won't die or even present a defect. My big thing with the 8bitdo is the internal battery. Do they make a version that takes AA? I never want to go back to the DS3 days in that regard. I've got an eneloop setup that's been kicking for a decade.

hellno, got 8bitdo 2c wu kong edition, its perfect and cost 35 bucks for wireless model. Dualsense is another great option if you want haptics in supported titles. Before that I just used xbox one controller

I've got an orginal 360 Controller and it works perfectly fine 7 years later.

My next Controller would be obviously the next Iteration of the Xbox Controller or the 8BitDo

The 8bitdo Pro 2 controllers are my favorite controllers overall. Like, across any system. Everything on them feels great, and the build quality is very good. The one you probably want is the Xbox variant that's got hall effect sticks and triggers, and that's like $37. Sometimes, you really don't need to pay more.

I haven't used the DualSense Edge, but I have used the Elite and Elite 2, and they're absolute garbage with some of the worst build quality I've ever seen in a controller. I'm also not a fan of the rubberized grips that wear down. Just avoid.

I'm more than happy to pay $100+ for a controller, but it has to be worth it. A customized, high-end keyboard is worth it. An arcade stick is worth it. At the end of the day, though, I can only justify it if the build quality is exceptional. Such an important, yet seemingly underappreciated thing.

As many here mentions, the 8bit do ultimate is very good.
I also have a Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra, which I prefer. But that one is 200 dollars.

Good choice. I got the Stealth Ultra when it released in december last year, and it's amazing. Definitely the best controller I have used, and I've tried lots of them.

After trying a half dozen different controllers, I've just settled on buying the regular Xbox controllers. Any of the premium controllers don't feel like they're worth the extra money, or they break in some way that's a PITA to try and fix. Third party controllers with hall effect sticks are great, until I load a game that for some random reason doesn't work correctly.

The sweet spot of cost and convenience has been to pick up a couple of xbox controllers when I see them on sale so I always have a spare ready to go when one gets stick drift or a bumper stops working.

The best gp currently is Flydigi Apex 4, only 80-100$, second is Flydigi Vader 4 Pro ~ 60-70$. But dualsense with hall effect analog mod is still the king.

I use Xbox Series X controller. Perfectly fine for me and have no need for anything else. Had a 360 and One controller before this. I wouldn’t waste my money on more expensive controllers.

Dual Sense is the best from a features perspective if you play Sony games on PC due to the adaptive triggers and rumble. Stick drift is a fucker though and I've had it happen to two of my controllers, despite taking decent care of them.

Razor is the Monster Cable of PC Gaming. Most of their stuff is ridiculously expensive overpriced. Corsair is starting to fall into this category as well. Meanwhile brands like Logitech and HyperX are much much better value and performance. In my experience they’ve also been vastly more reliable.

I’ve never had one of their products that hang broken, while the aforementioned brands I’ve been able to use for years.

Cost isn't a factor for me, like i said ive never had any issues. Im sorry that you have.

In this specific case, I dont think the brands you mentioned make anything like an Elite or Wolverine.

Other than the little rubber bits on the hair trigger locks coming loose (they are just glued on a little plastic bit) my Elite 2 has been fine. Got it for only 80€ so can't really complain, but I wouldn't buy it today as there are much better alternatives that both the Elite 2 and Edge controllers in the PC space.

I'm a huge fan of the dual sense. It feels great in my hand and I haven't felt the need for back bumpers. I rarely playing fighting games though.

Just like the switch pro controller. Both are very ergonomic especially compared to the joycons.

For the most part i've been using a cheap third party 360 controller that is serviceable, however the internals are so cheap that it almost gives me a nails to a chalk board feeling whenever I press the triggers or the face buttons.

I recently got a FlyDigi Vader 4 Pro for about $80 and love it. I tried the 8bitdo prior and it was a night and day difference. Returned the 8bitdo immediately.

I’ve had an Elite 2 for a while. Had to fix the A and Y buttons with tape down the side to make them responsive, but it is otherwise great. I can switch between my PC and laptop by leaving the dongle in the PC and switching between 2.4ghz and bluetooth.

Like the look of the Wolverine Pro v3 but no charging cradle and no bluetooth are black marks for me.

If the stupid Xbox Elite controllers weren’t made of papier-mâché I’d say yes. But as of writing this, I’ve gone through four Xbox Elite controllers (and repaired the bumpers at least eight times) and now three Xbox Elite 2 controllers.

Almost always it’s the bumpers that break for me, but sometimes the joysticks go bad too.

It’s easily my favorite feeling controller, but they break so insanely easily. I’m done buying them at this point…

I'm perfectly happy with my 8bitdo but I've been debating on whether I want a pro controller or not. That new Hexgaming Phantom looks good but $250 for a controller just feels too crazy.

My Elite 2 it seems has a broken left thumb stick after I unscrewed it to eliminate drift (it worked after , for a day...). So I plugged my Dualsense into my PC and holy shit why did I not do so before, I have haptic feedback in games that support it, plus I prefer the PS controller.
The Hexgaming Phanton looks awesome, thanks for the heads-up!

My Xbox Series controller shit the bed so I picked this 8bitdo Ultimate 2C controller up for $35. It’s got Hall Effect sticks and a 1000 polling rate. The regular colored versions are $30, and would’ve preferred those but they were sold out on Amazon. Gamesir has a nice model with Bluetooth and Hall Effect sticks for $25.


It’s perfectly fine for my needs, which is simply a decent controller. None Of these fancy $200 controllers are built well, or will last. They’re not going to make you a better player. So why waste the money? No one outside of a message board is going to care.

Everyone recommending the 8BitDo Ultimate, I have one but its not great, the angle of the handles is way off, its too straight you feel like your holding two sticks parallel to one another.

I just got the Gamesir G7 HE, its wired (wireless one rumoured) but it feels VERY nice to hold, has hall effect trigger and sticks, hair triggers (digital) and back buttons like the 8bitdo.

V nice.

Agree with others Elite 2 overpriced shite.
Dualsense is great but feels a bit cheap these days compared to more premium options.

That's the one I got. I didn't care for the pastel colors offered for the standard 2c, so I went with this. I don't even care about Wokong, and you wouldn't know it's an official collaboration if the box didn't say so. I am loving it so far. It feels better than the standard series controller IMO.

I agree, it does feel better than my Series controller, as well as my Switch Pro controller. I’m hoping a firmware update allows Bluetooth on PC at some point, but if not it’s no biggie. Can’t argue at that price point.

I have the Xbox halo elite controller. It’s freaking great and the battery life is extremly long. When it comes to controllers just get what you like. For me it’s what I like. Plus it’s easy wireless out of the box.
