My last exam at university was today, tomorrow i will join the unemployed masses, but for tonight I AM JUST ANOTHER PISS HEAD STUDENT!

HORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive been drinking for 6 hours, 6 more to go.

Anyone graduating/graduated this year post what you have/dont have lined up for afterwards, personally i have abosultely nothing lined up, the job hunt beings tomorrow in ernest but I'll amost certainly moving home with the parents for a time after my tenancy runs out here in July. I know i should have at least applied for something but all those graduate jobs just looked like more education to me. I want to take my Java/C++ knowledge and apply it to something useful now, im sick of being taught things.

bar resits.

p.s Any post i make in the Gaming forum today is bullshit...but dont tell anyone.

Travel where????

Fill this thread with your post-grad exploits, while i go get wrecked.

Go to places you've never been before. If you've always wanted to go to some country, now's the time to do it before you get knee deep in work. That or get married!

Unless of course if what you are studying will eventually take you to the places you want to go ;)

Well, with what he's studying, he'll get a nice tour of Bangalore or Chennai :D

Enjoy it while it lasts...without any kind of job, things are going to get boring real fast. I too had the dream of doing nothing, and it was fun for about two weeks. :)

I graduated in December and applied for the JET program (Teaching English overseas), but got picked as an alternate. Chances seem to be pretty slim at this point, but they can call you up until sometime in September, so there's still some hope. It's not getting the job that has me down though...it's this stupid period of waiting without any idea of what's going on. I can't go after another job since I might get called up at any time, and my current job SUCKS SO BAD. I have decided I am going to quit in late July/early August; figure if I don't hear from JET by then, it's over, and my credit card will be completely paid off by then, so if I don't have a job, it won't matter. Then it's off to reapply to JET and apply to some other companies as well.

But man, I have got to get away from this job...going on nine years (I'm only 24!) now...pay sucks, hours suck...too many morons. ARGH WANT TO LEAVE SO BAD

I was totally right there where you were three weeks ago Ghost. I just got my BA in Communication studies and I was not exactly sure what I was going to do. I flirted with applying for grad. school, but I discovered that the average pay increase I would get is not worth all of the extra time and effort that masters degree would require.

So now I am looking into becoming a real estate broker or something. I have been a restaurant server all 4 1/2 years of college, and I am pretty good at selling stuff. My mom always said I had the "gift of gab". I figure selling houses instead of food would be the next step for me to make some real money. I would totally have to take some accelerated course in real estate 101 to get a crash course in it though.

I dont know, what other ideas do you guys may have for me with the info I told ya about?

Does JET pay well?

I think it's something like $35,000 a year, but they provide your housing and even a car in some cases. There are people here on the program right now or that have been on it that could answer that question much better than I can. :)

I'm also looking into AEON and some other English teaching jobs. Also found one from a small college that's similar to JET, but you have to have had at least two years of Japanese...and I've had four years, so that's all good with me. But JET sounds like the best of them all, so I'm likely going to wait another year or so if I don't get in this year and reapply this fall, along with applications to some of the other places for the hell of it.

quit that summer job and travel. Trust me
I wish I could, I just don't have the money to do so:(. Between credit card bills and money needed to move into a new apartment.

*sigh* if only I had saved some money

I just got back from my final final and graduate on Saturday. I have nothing lined up at all. I suppose I could always apply to JET...

he speaks the absolute truth. once you get a REAL job, its not just 40 hours/week, its all 5 days gone. you only get the weekends. and that is your life, for the next 25 years!!!
i regret not going anywhere...but i didnt have the money either. but i still think i should have loaned some money and should have travelled a bit.

Haha, 40, try 50-60 if he's going to be a programmer.

And it's only two months, rack that fucking credit card for two months! Yes, your credit will suck, but you will experience memories you will never forget. I wish I was able to travel, but I chickened out after finishing college. I had a chance to go to Spain for a week, but instead, I went looking for work. You have a job locked up, cuban! GO GO GO! Or at least work for like a month and then bail!
