The problem is nearly every time GAF or some other large group on the internet care about an issue - be it DRM, regional lockouts, parity - someone eventually comes along to tell us how irrelevant we all are and nothing will change because no one will notice. It's annoying.
You do realize that Assassin's Creed tend to sell around 10 million copies. Even if every person on Gaf was a portion of that and decided not to buy a game, they would be losing like 2% of their sales at most. And obviously we care about this stuff a lot more here than the mainstream consumers do.
Your saying purposely making your product inferior for 1 specific set of consumers to match another is not anti-consumerism? When they can release a better version for little to no extra work?
They are purposely downgrading... Sure why not have Radeon and Nvidia resolution + FPS parity because of stuff and debate....
I can't believe people actually care about this. If a few extra pixels suddenly makes a game less fun, that really says something about a person.
Imagine if iTunes still used 128kbps or whatever crappy bitrate for MP3s, and Amazon was at 256kbps. Now, suddenly, Music Label decided their music on Amazon was going to be 128kbps because they don't want to be part of the bitrate wars, making their music objectively worse for no actual benefit to anyone. You better believe fans would be pissed.
Have you not followed the DRM and loudness wars of music? Games are not the only area where people care about the quality of the content they consume, nor should people not "make a big deal" of it.
right, than why did we bother buying new consoles if all we were getting were a few extra pixels, this isnt much about the resolution but about the practice ubisoft is laying for other devs to follow, why try harder to achieve better if people will buy regardlessI can't believe people actually care about this. If a few extra pixels suddenly makes a game less fun, that really says something about a person.
Sony may as well stipulate on Xbox 1 games must run in black n white.
- MS throws money at Crystal dynamics for Tomb Raider
- MS introduces Xbox One's controversial indie "launch parity"
- MS Introduces FPS + resolution Parity across rival platforms
I for the most party do not care what MS do, when it effects their rivals by fighting dirty is guerrilla warfare.
Still blame Ubisoft for accepting their anti-consumerist practicing and dereliction of duty.
Are you guys seriously this upset and not buying it anymore because it's 900p instead of 1080p?
Embarrassing and shameful.
I don't expect a lot from Ubisoft but that is sad, imagine telling the dev team. Shaking their heads in disbelief.
Microsoft, how low can you go, the shit on my shoe.
If its fun to play why should it matter? Are you saying that the SNES waas the worst system ever of all time because of its lack of D's?Maybe some dropped pre-orders will get some attention. Everyone here who is upset and has the game pre-ordered should drop their pre-order. Even if you still plan on buying the game. Money is the only thing that is going to get the suits attention.
Well shit, I guess we should just accept 240P gaming if that's what the devs choose to make right?
So they can put more in games obviously. The better consoles allow things like better AI or more enemies. Not just D'sright, than why did we bother buying new consoles if all we were getting were a few extra pixels, this isnt much about the resolution but about the practice ubisoft is laying for other devs to follow, why try harder to achieve better if people will buy regardless

So? Unity looks like a generational leap over 4 even with the resolution difference.ACIV was 1080p and hard locked at 30fps.
I can't believe people actually care about this. If a few extra pixels suddenly makes a game less fun, that really says something about a person.
It doesn't matter what console you own, this is wrong. You shouldn't lower the quality for one to be more in line with another version. I owned a PS3 last gen, if developers would have lowered the quality of 360 games to match some poorly made PS3 ports, I would have been disturbed.
That's not what people are upset about.
Are you guys seriously this upset and not buying it anymore because it's 900p instead of 1080p?
So you're just a masochist then? What's the point of any of your posts? They don't lead to a deeper view on the topic at hand. They're just about your ego. No one cares.
You got me, no more fun games left to play so I'm watching people freak out over pixels.Oh good I'm glad you are still here. Don't have any fun video games to play? Instead like to read this "Whine thread"?
Are you guys seriously this upset and not buying it anymore because it's 900p instead of 1080p?
wtf? So you are saying that Xbox One owners are needing to come to terms that the X1 is weaker? WTF kind of bullshit is that. You make it sound like it is X1 owners fault this is happening.Yeah I think they're gonna lose a lot of day one money. At least on the PS4 side. Well, from people who read this stuff and care about it...
I definitely will not be buying day one now. If every third party dev did this with every game it'd be insane. Don't do this crap. The people who prefer X1 are gonna play it on there anyway. They should know that their box isn't quite as strong as Sony's. Should just come to terms with that.
You do realize that it won't sell anywhere near that since it's only on the limited install bases of PS4 and XB1. Many casuals haven't upgraded to a current gen console yet. GAF makes up a more significant portion of that potential userbase than you think and word will spread around to other sites like IGN, Gamespot, etc. Ubisoft is already losing a lot of sales by not releasing this on last gen and a move like this can only HURT them.
I can't believe people actually care about this. If a few extra pixels suddenly makes a game less fun, that really says something.

This!Sony may as well stipulate on future marketing deals that Xbox 1 games must run in black n white.

Next twist-- PC version can only be played via streaming and the stream is locked at 900/30.
Yes, and rightly so. If Ubisoft get away with this then expect other developers to follow suit and stop this generation progressing over night.
Are you guys seriously this upset and not buying it anymore because it's 900p instead of 1080p?
Meanwhile, Vib Ribbon, never before released in America, is coming out TOMORROW because people raised a ruckus at Sony after E3. Making noise matters.
LOL at the image, but the scenario described is possible. The game can be so cpu bound that it takes away time from the GPU so you end up with less time to handle graphics. This is basically what Mantle showed us, but to achieve higher framerates instead of resolution.
