Assassin's Creed Shadows 💮|OT|💮 Play Stealthy for Me |づ ╸ . •́ )メ

Man... I dont know about this, I have my key ready to go. The nerfed exploration is a bummer for sure
Depends on what you prioritize. If exploration and finding cool stuff is your main attraction, it's much less interesting here than in the other games. In Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, when you get on a perch and look over the landscape you can literally go to any point on that map. In Shadows, 80% of the map, at least in the first 8-10 hours or so, are narrow pathways and unclimbable mountains. And that's not including the constant linear story missions that have zero exploration or anything interesting to find. I loved going anywhere and climbing everything in previous games, I spent many hours just going off in a random direction and getting into stuff, so it's a disappointment in this game for sure.

Yeah its a bit of a bummer.

Also I hate the fact that they auto synchronize now, or was that in Valhalla too?

I just want to chill a bit, then hit the Sync button when I want.

I find that there is already so little to actually do, when I climb up to a high point (which takes no effort because of the stupid grapple hook) then I cant even hit the sync button myself.

Performance is atrocious on a 9950X3D and 5090 at 4K
30 FPS in cutscenes and 60 in game with dips 🤮

Twelve hours after launch, and a peak of over 35K.
Not a bad result, but also not great. Tough it's probably going to improve today, and especially during the weekend.

Game is capped at 30fps in cutscenes across the board for some reason. Everything maxed out with 7600x3d and 9070 XT, I'm getting game play in the 40s. But yeah.....you should be getting better performance than that.

Sweet. That means I won't have to start from scratch when my PS5 version arrives.

I am sure many people are playing on the Ubisoft launcher, either because of Ubisoft Plus or because they have all their Ubisoft games there and they prefer to own it there

I really doubt that. Most people don't like the Ubisoft launcher.
And this was a huge problem for Ubisoft, because when they stopped releasing games on Steam, sales fell of a cliff. And after a couple of years, then ran back to Steam, and are now releasing games there on day one.

That's my case, playing it on Ubisoft Plus, and I'll probably pick it on a deep sale in the future over there as I did with Valhalla. Not much point in getting it on Steam when 1) it's more expensive and 2) you are still launching Uplay anyways.

That´s half of Dragon Age Veilguard`s peak, and on the release weekend no less. A game that by all metrics seems to have flopped horribly and was put into the shovelware catalogue within a single quarter had double the player count of this AC entry. Unless you think people are all flocking to the Ubisoft launcher for this it`s really bad.
If Ubisoft was banking on this to save them .......

I personally have bought it on the Ubisoft launcher because all my AC games are there and I have few friends that have done the same. We will see what happens, but dont underestimate AC and Ubisoft in general because they usually sell really well

It will probably surpass Origins (40k ccu) because Ubisoft said the game had the best pre-orders in the series after Odyssey (62k ccu)

We have a seperate thread for the CCU numbers and this has all been discussed there.

Please move CCU discussion there and keep this thread free for the people who are playing

But you and your friends are the exception.
The fact that Ubisoft came crawling back to Steam, and selling games on day one is proof of that.

I'd have to be fully retarded to get it on steam when:
It launched earlier on connect
It was cheaper on connect thanks to redeeming ubipoints for 20% discount
Connect's pre-load is actually good and you can play immediately at release time without that horrible decryption steam does.
Getting it on steam still runs some "lite" version of connect in the backround, making it pointless
All my other ac games are there

That's what I mean. If you go to any website that sells keys, they are selling you the Ubisoft connect version with a juicy discount. I dont see people going for the steam version for 70 bucks when they can get the Ubisoft Launcher version for 50 but hey, maybe we are mistaken and papi winjer winjer could be right.

Valhalla sold too well for this one to fail miserably in my opinion

I also play it on ubisoft connect because it is much much cheaper there for me
better regional pricing + 20% discount = win
so powerful naoe, can't wait to play!

Just completed the prologue. Really digging it so far. I need to use framegen here, because i had around 60 fps maxed out with dlss4, but now im over 100. Looks and feels amazing

Oooooooh, so they decided to use shrines and meditation as a way for you to remember what happened before Nobunaga destroyed the village and killed everyone, meaning you get to know the characters better, what they've been going through, how Naoe learned things and all that. What a fuckin' clever way to do this narratively (plus the way Animus works helps to understand how it's even possible by accessing different memory bits) and so far what I've seen was great. Needless to say that Tsushima has nothing even close to this, as cool and as interesting, can't wait to see what else is there to see and experience.

Combat. Man, it's fuckin' great! I mostly suck at it for now and not good, but goddamn does it feel and looks great when you do everything right. I just love the way they decided to show visually how close enemies are to death. For example, big brutes and armored samurai will lose bits and pieces of their armor the more you attack them, which is something that even Lords of the Fallen reboot doesn't have, let alone Ghost of Tsushima. It's so fuckin' good and miles batter than anything AC had ever. The way deflections work is great, you feel each impact both visually and sound-wise and the combat overall is brutal as fuck, you have to think what you do and how cuz you can die in 3 hits and even less if you're not careful. This is the way you fuckin' do it Sucker Punch, without your repetitive standoffs which gets old after 2 times you see them and the rest of the combat... ugh, JUST NO!

Local stores mostly sold out of physical. Luckily I found one spot, but almost 15 miles out.

Lol why do people tell others not to pre-order games?

it looks great, but the prologue was kinda disjointed and boring narrative wise?
or maybe i was too sleepy lol i'll try later today.

Pretty interesting that the menu has selection options for Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage and Shadows. (maybe Syndicate). It will launch you into the game (assuming the disc is in or you have it digitally installed).

Maybe this was the 'hub' thing they talked about years ago

First crash :(

I thought you dont need the shit ubi launcher for the steam version for this game, but its still launching alongside the game

I would refund and get it in Ubisoft Connect. I haven't had a single crash so far. Have you installed the latest drivers btw? I assume you are playing with your new graphics card

Less than half of GoT's peak which was a years old port lmao. I understand we may not have hit the peak yet, but this is dreadful.

Rocinante618 Rocinante618 Played a bit more on my laptop. I would say either buy it on Steam and make sure you test it really good before your two hour refund period is up or rent it with Ubisoft+ first. Having alots of issues with freezing during load. May be just too much for the 8GB VRAM to handle? Not sure.....but something is bottlenecking somewhere. Could be my older CPU. Just wanted to make sure you are aware before you make a decision either way. Once in game, it seems ok, but who knows if that will continue to be the case.

Previous games had gay romance as well. Why is this even an issue? I hate wokism with passion but I personally have no issues with a huge RPG with this type of content when made optional

Just memeing, i dont care :messenger_tears_of_joy:

All games since Odyssey had bi/gay romance, i like those options since it's something out of OG Bioware Game

One of my favourite scenes in Assassin's Creed is where you have the option to fuck a guy to solve an issue, the coming back is hilarious (sadly can't find it on Youtube):

There's gay options in shadows as well

To me this is a clear sign that people like this YouTuber that lives with cockroaches in the room and many of the so called influencers in social media, are just grifters. What a coincidence that no one had any issue a few years ago when Oddysey or Valhalla had Gay or Bi romance but now is a problem and a insult to the player of all a sudden. Why going from one extreme to another? Homosexuality and Bisexuality exist since humans were on earth and having more options is always welcomed. The problem is when they preach their message trying to lecture the player like Dragon Age Veilguard, but if developers introduce these types of things with sensitivity and good faith, I dont see a single reason to be angry or calling out the company.

That being said, is it true that Ubisoft has shown in the past to be woke so it's good that they're being called out when they messed up. But I honestly dont see anything wrong with this particular situation, its just a choice
