Assassin's Creed Shadows' main story around 30 and 60 hours long

This came up in a new 'ask me anything' session hosted by a handful of Assassin's Creed Shadows developers on Reddit, who were asked how long the game is compared to Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Slightly confusingly, it's apparently comparable to all three.

"The length of the game is always hard to evaluate in an open world game as different players will have very different ways to consume the content," creative director Jonathan Dumont replies. "I think Shadows' main journey is comparable to Origins/Odyssey and Valhalla."

I cant w8 till We Wuz Samuraiz fails and ubisoft ips get sold off to more decent people. Maybe Focus gets Rainbow six and they put Saber on a Vegas style game. Ubisoft has plagued this industry for too long.

I am ready to invest 60+ hours in it. The new combat video looks very smooth and loved the old stealth video. Also it's coming on my birthday! 😁

Nah. Sorry AC. this is just too late and too off the mark for me to care.

I'll play Ghost instead (and Ronin).

my last AC was AC3. and i didnt even finish that one, AC 1 & 2 is where its at. The rest is regurgitated offal...just like all their other franchises, I hope this company goes down harder than the concord servers did.

They need to ditch the Open World formula and make a 15 Hour linear, story driven Assassins Creed game with high production values.

With that big a studio, it would be fucking incredible - Exactly the refresh the series needs.

Let me guess, 30 hours for people that buy boosters and micro transactions. And 60 hours for those that don't pay extra and have to spend 30 hours grinding xp and equipement.
So ubi can eat some dicks but I have never felt compelled to buy this shit in their games. Never ran into issues leveling or getting gear.

I wonder what poor bastards have the job of creating those immersion breaking "animus puzzles" and whatnot and having to sculpt out parts of the map for them. Or little scraps of songs, haikus, or whatever to chase around. That shit has got to be tedious as hell when you are on your 20th one!

I like their big open world RPG style AC games. I thought Origins and Odyssey were great for that type of game. Valhalla less so. I skipped Mirage because it's not one of those.

I'm not really interested in this one though. I'll be focused on Ghosts of Tsushima and eventually Rise of the Ronin (waiting for a PC port).

Apparently this game is going to have a "cannon mode" where all the decisions you can make it the game is picked "correctly" for you by the developers, and it will also have an enemy free "discovery mode" where there are no enemies to fight. So if you choose both options it's just an interactive movie where you walk the player character to go from location to location to watch cut scenes.

Mock me if you like, but I'm still mildly excited. A return to an Odyssey kind of game (Valhalla was bad) plus the setting plus the combat that looks quite decent is all I need.

Instead of buying this, I’ll take a thirty hour shit, playing Candy Crush on my iPhone. Much better use of my time.

Make a well paced, enjoyable 12-15 hour single player, no dlc, no bullshit, no woke shit game.

Until then. No thanks.

Regardless of what gamers online think, the three RPG AC games were incredibly successful, with Valhalla becoming a billion dollar product for Ubisoft. AC Shadows following in those games’ footsteps isn’t surprising, nor will it be a negative for most people playing.

Very offputting.

Origins' story was quite short but severely dragged out because of the side-content required to complete it. Tolerable though.

Odyssey's story was a pretty decent length but like Origins, dragged out severely due to the side-content needed to be the relevant level for the story quests. A bit of a slog.

Valhalla's story was a complete mess to get through. Non-stop receptiveness again and again, I would love to see the % of people who completed it because I can imagine it's truly low. Gave up 30-40 hours in, enough was enough with that mess. Literally the best definition i've ever seen in a game of quantity over quality.

Then we have Mirage which went back to the old-school Ass Creed formula, was a nice tight 8-12 hour story and the best game the series has released in forever.

And despite that they immediately go back to this mess.

Fed up of Ubisoft.
