Assassin's Creed Shadows New 7 minutes Combat Gameplay

They're going to deflect the blame of this flopping on the chuds, but based on these videos the game deserves to flop. Looks like an indie jankware title with a AAA HUD and menu stack. Ubi won't learn any lessons from this because everyone who gets paid to advise there will tell management the game was fine and failed because of internet racists.

I still have to see one bad thing in the gameplay videos.

Naoe looks like my first playthrough, and then Yasuke. Looks fun to use her in crowd control scenarios because she is way more faster than him and obviously, stealth because she is a kunoichi.

I honestly don't even want to look at this game anymore. This will be the first time I plan to do a media blackout on a game that I don't intend to play.

Graphics are becoming better and better, but we really need an overhaul of clothing in gaming. It's really immersion-breaking for me when someone with large clothes doesn't have the movements and physics I expect. I know this might be super hard or even impossible today, but damn, how I hate clothing that doesn't feel malleable and fluid.

Really appreciate the effort with breakable objects tho! Looks awesome.

Looks dogshit as usual ... no wonder they are trying to win all the woke points they can with the media for the fake reviews.. they are going to need it.

Can't watch atm, just need to know if they're using hip-hop bgm in a game set in feudal Japan, because the character is black?
Amazing lack of awareness, for the progressive devs, a black character set anywhere in any timeline = hip-hop :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No matter the setting still very much Assassin's Creed which I find bore to play, I honestly felt same way about Ghost of Tsushima.

None of these games comes close to Sekiro......I wish we got Sekiro 2 instead.

The problem is Assassins Creed as a brand is poison.

Quantity over quality in every game for the last 10 years.

We all know how this game plays out and what you'll be doing in it, that classic Ubisoft formula that has been flogged over and over and over and over and over again............... so so boring.
It's not just AC, the same formula applies to Ghost Recon, Far Cry and many other titles as well.

Is it me, or does this look like they took some serious inspiration from Mortal Kombat?
OMG I immediately thought the same thing, something about the combat animations, camera angles and blood/gore splatter. In my head I was screaming Mortal Kombat from the theme song lol

I assume the video is edited to show how repetitive the gameplay will be?

And what happened to everyone's favorite soundtrack?

Best footage I've seen of this game

Same.

I'm ok with what I'm seeing from the parry, block and deflect stuff. I also love how the wind looks in the environments. Actually looks better then what they showed prior.

Still a day 1.

kurashu kurashu Thank you for that! I was able to look over it and want to see some of that bow footage lol I might do a media black out on it though to be surprised on a bit more stuff on day 1 release. We've seen enough

bring on dat steelbook!!!!!!!!

It's not bad actually. Very Tsushima-esque but whatever.

If that naginata move can be spammed however, people will 100% the game just pressing the spin-2-win move.

Not sure what the sentiments are, but I really enjoyed this video.

I think the game looks good; the weather system in particular seems impressive. I still don't like the combat animations or the fact that the destroyed, uprooted trees (during the fight immediately after the assassination) just vanish.

But overall, I think it might just turn out to be a good, fun game.

As with modern AC games, however, the pacing and bloat will determine how enjoyable it actually is. But I don't see it completely bombing as we initially thought.

Seems like we got a dagger user and a warrior. I am more a archer andy, so i hope they atleast give a option for that. Not much of a melee user. Visually the game looks great tho.

Also did they cancel the pre-orders? can't seem to pre-order the game on there website anymore.

I always wanted some open world game where the things you destroyed stayed destroyed after a bunch of combat lol I'm not sure what is needed for this though, like more Ram or something like this.

I believe looking into the combat page on their site, it does list like a Bow that can be used.

I like all options based on situation, like bow from a far to take out someone from a tower, dagger to go in stealth and sword to kill my way out lol

Visually, this game looks really really good, I want to see more of that seasonal system with the real time lighting to see how that transition looks like

Wind's howling harder than in TW3. Damn.

Idk guys, the Shinobi or Ninja combat looks fire. Most of the jank from the previous titles looks gone. I loved that combo with the katana on ice.

Animations look a bit clunky and the combat kinda slow but at least it doesn't have the shitty precanned death animations of tsushima and the stealth is gonna be much better (not an hard task).

The graphic looks whatever, i'm not even sure if it looks better than 3 years old crossgen hfw.

Undecited between picking this one (with a month of ubisoft pass obviously) or avowed before wilds is gonna obscure every other game for 2 months.

Yeah, I don't even want it to be permanent. Heck, don't even make the debris interactable if that's the issue. Just keep that on screen for like 30 seconds at least lol. I'd have moved on my camera/view anyway by that time.

Consoles don't have enough memory for that, only on some pc games they let you set after how many time destructible objects disappear.

So much iperbole, it doesn't looks as bad as many of you keep saying, still not interested tho.

It looks better than some of the previous AC games. I think it's just blind hate. Game isn't even out yet.

I'm trying to remember this one game where people were shitting on how it looked / played and then when people actually got their hands on it, they are like best game ever. What was that game...

Oh yeah! Silent Hill 2 Remake!

They should have turned the AC brand into Final Fantasy years ago.

By that I mean completely different concepts and gameplay every time. I thought this was going to happen after that small run they had from Black Flag to Origins, but instead they stuck to just two modes of gameplay, pre-Black Flag and post-Origins.
Ironically ive been playing FF7 Rebirth, and it encompasses all the worst of 'ubisoft' in terms of level/quest design. Something which I was not expecting and was very disappointing to see.

And the rest of their engine suck asses just to have that feature that in normal gameplay without an editor to spawn 10.000 objects to make funny gifs is almost useless most of the times, definitely not the example to follow.

Also, althought the impact on perf is probably the same (or higher), we were talking about debris formed when you destroy something, from my memory bethesda games only have normal objects\loot persistency, starfield has barely any destruction whatsoever.

This looks fucking terribad

Terribad?
You must only play 10/10 games, cuz that looks okay, likely alot more fun to actually play than to watch.

Its not Devil May Cry, Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden, but it was never meant to take on those games and seems to be an evolution of the combat system we have been using since Origins.

What were people expecting?

I understand, but I think the hardware is not there yet to handle all the gaming community wants:
1. Graphics - Expectation right now is that every game to have Wukong level of graphics
2. Object persistence - What Bethesda games does has a big impact on CPU
3. Destruction and persistence - What The Finals does, but with all the above
4. Immersion and features to add immersion - Stealth like in Thief or Splinter Cell, sound like in Hellblade
5. Player agency - Open world, wide linear or even linear games with Dishonored agency.
6. Interactivity - which is very tied to player agency, meaning what Baldur's Gate is doing.
7. Combat - fast paced like in DMC or MGR or slow-paced like in Dark Souls. Not many developers do interesting combat

Developers need to pick their battles and in the last period they seem to pick graphics only and even then not delivering entirely.
