Asteroid may impact Earth in 2032

I'm kinda curious if "big space" (i.e. SpaceX, Blue Origin, NASA, etc) actually WANT this thing to hit, preferably in a manner that is dramatic but not directly affecting first world operations, just so it would create a MASSIVE call for a planetary defense system and push trillions their way. Obviously I don't think we have the capability to MAKE this thing hit us, I just wonder if some groups would be happy if it did (and only hit along that low equatorial path not directly affecting the US or Europe). It would potentially be the largest hit in a century and I'm sure we would have time to both mitigate any loss of human life but also capture the impact in glorious 4K.
If it does hit a populated area then people will rightly demand defense against such things and those companies would stand to make money off of that. But as you said this probably isn't going to hit the west and that brings up an issue in the future.

In Starship troopers Buenos Aires gets wiped out, but what happens if something is due to hit there and by trying to divert the rock it puts it into the path of New York or Beijing, no one is going to fire to save Argentina if the remains are going to hit somewhere wealthier. So do we just let 90% get hit and save the 10% of wealthy mega cities?

My new scientifically sound idea is to hit the asteroid WITH our planet, and not the other way around. Think about this shit. If a tiny rock can fuck up a whole city of ours, imagine what launching the city warehouse at the Tiny Rock? Mathematics can't solve for such a large projected number of WALLOFDICKANDFURY an entire planet would provide. Hell yeah.

Would be funny if we are sure it will miss the earth, then go and hit the moon on the side just enough to bounce of a big chunk of it and send it directly to the earth, 8ball style.

Deadly, but funny.

I do wonder how the government and nasa etc would react if we were one month out and the hit chance was say 75% or more.

Would we be blasting nukes into space as our only hope? would they keep it from us all and just let it hit, potentially wiping us out entirely?

Would the elite blast off into space / to the moon to wait it out?

Would the government allow NASA to announce an impact that could exterminate all life on earth? I've always wondered about this.

The absolute chaos that would get if people knew that in 2 weeks we would all die
