Astro Bot FAQs: Four times more worlds than Playroom, No microtransactions

Well this should once and for all put to bed the idea that playroom was a full game. Amazing but 25% of a proper full game.

Not sure why anyone would say this will flop. There a big gap in the lineup for this type of game. It should sell at least 5 million units.

it's ironic how the remnants of Japan Studio have single-handedly rescued this State of Play from being complete and utter garbage. Imagine what could've been if Sony had invested in Japan Studio instead of shutting them down.
They did invest but they were so disorganized that nothing got done.

Just realized I didn't get the platty on Rescue Mission.. Guess it's time to dive back into this beautiful world. Sony struck gold with this mascot.

How refreshing these days just to get a game that is what it says it is on the tin. Fully complete with no hidden/extra in game microtransaction store.

Why its enough to make me almost happy.

Currently have $1000 bucks in my gaming hardware fund. I've been putting in 100 to 200 bucks a month for the Nvidia 5090.
I hope to have $2000 by end of year.
So when is the PS5PRO going to be launched and how much? Will Astrobot take advantage of the PRO?
Or just wait for this to come to PC in 2027.

is it? is it the Sony that maybe maybe Sony picked the correct team within Studio Japan to spear ahead. Let go of Team Siren. And the rest of the team turned into Xdev Japan. And now Sony is finally seeing it's Japanese studio deliver results, and not just have one gravity fan lurking on Neogaf.

I'd of paid £70 for the original, I don't normally preorder games at all, no point as I'm all digital, but this is a no brainer, I want these kinds off games to keep coming.

Moreover, the official Astro Bot page on the PlayStation website reveals that fans can anticipate over "150 iconic VIP Bots inspired by legendary characters from 30 years of PlayStation history."

Astro Bot will not feature any in-game purchases or multiplayer. Another tidbit is that players will be able to save over 300 bots.

You… didn't play Playroom? No PS5? Planning to jump on board with a PS5 Pro this year?
I played it 4 years ago. It was fine. I liked seeing a bigger budget platformer. I wasnt as blown away as most people on here but I enjoyed it. Probably waiting on this sequel for discounts, borrow from my brother or PC ports. Im not getting rid of my PS5 but it makes a lot more sense for me to buy PC versions in the future.

Day one. I love platformers and am replaying Astros playroom right now. It's delightful, especially if you were a day one PS1,PS2,PS3,PS4 and PS5 owner ☺️.

It plays so tight and I didn't do the speed levels first time round. Didn't realize they were seperate distinct levels, I thought they were just the normal levels so that's great ☺️

Can't wait 😃

Also the haptics and audio on the dualsense is amazing. No other game comes close it's a shame.

It's over, man, let it go. SCEI was never going to make this as a PSVR2 game.
Astro's inception was a VR mini-game that received such positive reception that Sony greenlit a full VR title; Rescue Mission. Rescue Missions is universally regarded as a masterpiece, won GOTY awards, and is referred to as a "Mario 64 type experience..."

People are well within reason to want a VR mode the for new Astro game.

Why wouldn't they? Because it's a platformer? Nintendo is charging top prices for their first party games that, by looking at them, cost a fraction in production of Astro Bot.

Yeah this is easily worth $70

Stand by the product you made. A 20+ hour platformer should not be held to a lesser standard than a 20+ hour RE game

Why not? It will be completely worth it. And considering it's releasing in September, it will probably go on sale for the holidays.
No video game is worth 70 dollars. Not Fallout New Vegas. Not Final Fantasy 7.
Not OcarIna of Time. Not Elden Ring. Not Mario 64 or chrono trigger or any other 90+ metacritic you can bring up. None of them are worth that much cash

50 should be the max period. That being said Astrobot looks like a solid 40 dollars title

No videogame is worth $70? Are you fucking serious? Are you 12 or poor as fuck? $70 for a quality game is honestly a fucking bargain. If you gamed in the 90s as a kid, SNES cartridges were sometimes $80 and we gladly paid it for a quality game. In 2024, that would equate to roughly $180 adjusted for inflation.

Videogames have gotten much cheaper if you account for inflation while dev costs have steadily gone way up. This used to be okay because gaming became more mainstream and there were more and more people buying games. But that's now over, thanks to Gen Z and Alpha, who don't game much on home consoles. This is why companies have to resort to things like microtransactions and accepting investments from Blackrock who push for DEI inclusion. So really if anything games are too cheap and we're paying the price for it with modern gaming and all that it entails.

Expensive specialized cartridges that have chips inside of them will certainly be super expensive sure. Luckily we are in an age of digital downloads and cheap to manufacture Blu rays. Why don't the prices reflect that?

Games could cost 300 dollars and there would still be season passes, mtx and dlc. Nothing will ever replicate the profit those generate. You'll get your expensive games and they will be unfinished and greedy too.

we shouldn't be bankrolling companies and their irresponsible financial decisions to make 500 million dollar overbudgeted open world cinematic realistic games with copyrighted music and a 900 hour campaign. If their games are too expensive to make, you make them cheaper.

They are, but everything points out to Astro Bot 2024 only being a TV-based PS5 game (including Sony's QA section).
What's the need of remaining hopeful about it having PSVR2 support?

It's kind of funny that you are posting on a gaming enthusiast forum and saying how no game is worth $70 (even your favorite of all time?). Maybe for you, that is true. I agree in most cases and if I can pay less, I am going to pay as little as possible, but there are some games I have paid $70 for and felt it was very well worth the experience - TotK and FF7 Rebirth are two recent examples. I also think back to some of my favorite games of all time, and how gaming is my favorite hobby, and how those experiences have impacted my life and me as a person. Sounds lame, but some games made a really lasting impression that I would value at much more than $70.

If $70 is a problem, it's only gonna get worse for you from here on out.

And you are aware that company need to raise the wages of their employees right?
