Asus 4K monitor shipps to US this month, $4,000 [PressRelease]

Sorry for the framerate confusion, I got confused because TheVerge wasn't able to get 4K@60p testing it using a MacBook.

TechPowerUp confirms that the 39 inch version with VA panel will be 60Hz, so it seems likely that the smaller version should be able to push 60Hz over DisplayPort 1.2 as well.

It's not the same thing? Also 1K is quite a difference.

Monitor vs tv, but why couldn't you use the tv as your monitor? The monitor isnt even 120Hz. When you have the money to buy one, 24inch more screen real estate for 1000 bucks more isn't a huge difference.

Downsampling

Massive desktop is massive. http://abload.de/img/untitled-23yp07.png

As Sethos said, downsampling.

The Asus can display a true 2160p resolution which will look a hell of a lot better than downsampling. Also to those calling Asus out on only 30fps via HDMI, well the new 55/65" Sony 4k's only do 30fps via HDMI. Samsungs new 4k sets that come out soon will only do 30fps via HDMI. It is just a limitation of the HDMI port that causes this.

I just wish Sony/Samsung would put a Displayport plug on their sets and I would be there easily since DP 1.2 can do 60fps at 4k resolution. The Asus is going to be one of the first native 4k panels that will let you do 60fps because of the Display Port. But 4,000 for a 31.5 inch is outrageous.

Damn these things will go down in price really slow as people stop buying desktop computers for home :(, its all about the tablet for regular joe now.
