ATi mobility driver update -Help-

I have Amilo M1425 I've tried updating the driver from ATi but the "scanning program" told me that the Catalyst mobilty won't work with my PC and I have to contact the manufacturer..

new games won't work, so I've installed a driver(can't remember where I got it from), and it made the games run, but the text in windows wasn't so sharp, so i had to un-install it and reinstall what's in that link.

I need a new driver and Fujistu-Siemens don't have an updated one

help please.

you probably installed the omegadrivers from here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/
i think i have the same laptop. it's widescreen, right? search in google for the catalyst drivers. you'll find a direct link to download the whole package without the scanning program. usually you'd find it here: http://www.driverheaven.net but their download section is down at the moment. anyway, before you install the drivers you have to make modifications to a file in the unzipped archive. find the instructions here: http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=85395&page=4&pp=15 or more specifically here: http://www.driverheaven.net/showpost.php?p=684988&postcount=50. the reason your text isn't "sharp" is because for some reason you can't choose the correct widescreen resolution on some laptops. this modification should fix this. i did it myself, works perfect.

edit: of course you should uninstall your other drivers before giving this a try. as i said you probably have the omega drivers now.

I think the driver that I've downloaded sin't correct, cuz I can't unzip it

EDIT: sorry it got extracted.. I'm gonna try it now

I don't think its the right driver cus I can't find the file specified in that hack...

Which file should I download?

did it work? if it didn't then i'll have to start up my laptop and i'll easily be able to tell you what you need to do. so...?

Got lastest omega drivers and they work just fine on my widescreen vaio whereas official drivers couldnt not be installed on my laptop. Well, that's what the ATI prog told me so I didn't even bother to try.

Google omega radeon drivers and that'll do the job.

no it didn't work.. I couldn't get a right version of the driver, the last one won't even install it tells me that i dont have the software/hardware required for it

this is NOT true for HIS laptop. believe me, i have the same and it's a known issue.

I'll give ATi another try with that tweaking thingy, then I'll download Omega's

i've tried the omegas... the same issue, believe me. look into the forums, everyone with this laptop had to return to the modified catalyst drivers. the omega drivers don't support your native resolution.

My Vaio has the same video card and the same native resolution (1280*800, right ?) as your laptop, it's weird the omega drivers don't work.
I've got omega drivers based on catalyst 4.9, if that helps but reading jarosh's posts I doubt it.

ok, basically what you need is this file: 5-9-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_26413.exe. unfortunately it's slightly older than the link you've been given by syllogism, only a couple of days, though. the modification does not seem to work with the very newest version from here http://ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/. this is the name of the file you would need to modify: CX_26413.inf. of course in the newer driver this file changed to CX_26777.inf but the values are not the same as in the older file so don't mess with it.

unfortunately i can't find the 26413 version anywhere. it's supposed to be on driverheaven but as i already mentioned, their download section is down. so if you want to pm me with your mail address i could upload the file (i have it) to my server and send you the link. i could also upload the modified inf-file if you want...

i did this all myself maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago and it worked.

The catalyst 5-10 linked above, and the instructions in the links Jarosh have gave me..

I had to uninstall everything ATi on my PC, restart and follow the instructions

I'm very sorry for wasting your time jarosh. it worked on the 26777 :)

thanks again...

I'm lucky that you've seen my thread I guess...
