Atlantic Hurricane season 2017 |OT|

Ouch, not to be a selfish asshole but I'm glad that Irma is not going to hit us here in the Texas Gulf Coast again, I hope it stays far from land and doesn't land anywhere and just fizzles out.

Go right ahead and be selfish lol. I don't think anyone is gonna begrudge you for saying "fuck I hope it hits somewhere else" after all that is going on right now.

I mean going out to sea is the best option but i think you're allowed to hope it doesn't hit you without coming across as an asshole.

I'm with you.

As a Houstonian, I'd rather see it hit somewhere else. These past couple weeks have been almost unbearable.

I will, however, do whatever I can to contribute toward relief efforts if it makes landfall.

PR reporting in. People here are either nervous as hell about Irma or don't even know its coming. I'm just really hoping that shit goes away, university starts next week for a lot of us and we already had a huge setback due to student strikes last semester... I just wanna graduate!!

That's a hard right turn. A fish storm is a good storm.. any chance the really long range might hit Newfoundland though?

Fuck this shit, coming right for us.

When is this for, Sept 10th? Get back into Norfolk on Tuesday, will be looking at picking up supplies then/Wednesday.
10 days out still leaves a lot of room for change in the path. A few days ago the models had it on a more southern track. Just keep an eye on it and if you're still in the path in the 5 day forecast, then you can start worrying.

My god the size of it on the GFS models. It's a monster storm. Let's hope it is going to be a fish because 896 MB that far north is staggering. If that was further south you would be looking at mid 880's for pressure. (Air pressure is different the further north you go for a range of reasons).

I'd wait until 4 SEP to get too worried. The ridge will be better modelled, intensity better understood, and recon flight data will be in the models.

The latest Euro...920mb monster in the Bahamas heading NW.

Edit: Turns towards the southeast coast on day 10. Still a long way to go.

That's quite a ways out, though. I wouldn't start freaking out yet.
