Audio Authority 1154A Question

Running a few searches, I've noticed that many people on the forum speak highly of the Audio Authority 1154A component/digital audio switcher. I've needed one of these for quite some time now and finally placed an order for one this afternoon ($139 from digitalconnection.com, best deal I've seen on the product). My anticipation is high as it is whenever I order something online and I've been reading the owner's manual which is posted online as a pdf. Anyway, my question is related to this quote from the manual:

"Using the examples above, decide in what order you want to place your sources, then connect them to their respective inputs. Start by connecting both analog and digital audio as well as video."

Why would it be necessary to use both the analog and digital audio ports for the inputs? If I wanted to connect, say, a playstation 2, wouldn't it be redundant to connect analog inputs that I never intend to use?

Either I'm misreading this line or missing some general concept. Any owners of this device able to comment on this? Any insight would be appreciated.

:lol I remember asking a similar question at AVS when I got mine. No worries man, it's just there for backup or whatever, but I don't have 1 analog input going into my 1154 and it runs smooth as butter.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
I don't own one, but you're reading too far into it. It's not telling you to plug in both digital and analog connections for your hardware, it's just telling you to plug everything in that you'll need to "switch". That includes digital connections, analog connections, and video connections.

Thanks for the quick replies. I suspected I was reading too much into the line. It isn't a very well-written sentence, though.
