August 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes September 8th

How bad Vita is selling this days? Less than 10k in a month?

Most likely, it sold 2,500 unit with TV version in April.
The PSV has NEVER beat 3DS in a NPD, not even in the launch month, and was NOT A HOLIDAYS NPD, was February, it sold just 225,000 and the 3DS outsold it by a good margin ( 37k ), then 3DS beat again Vita in March, and by april is becomed a massacred, 3DS was selling some like 3:1 or 5:1 compared to Vita, and the thing are become even worse in 2013/2014, some times the 3DS outsold Vita by 10:1 or 15:1, the record as for now is on April 2014 when 3DS outsold Vita by over 30:1 ( 106,000 VS 3,300 ).

Poor Vita...

Fallout will sell slightly more on Xbox in the U.S. I think due to playstation fans always getting shafted with bad ports in the past, the rest of the world on the other hand...

I can kind of see that in NA only. Real question is the gap, will it be small? Also while the same also applies to the UK I think it'll sell more on the PS4 there. MS is running out of time before PS4 breaks the gap barrier there.

Are you saying that 3DS is more successful than Vita?

What a stunning revelation.

I'd bet against that.
Playstation owners are aware that the past is the past.

ESO has been more successful on Xbone. Fallout 4 probably will be as well.

Bad ports? We've been in generation 8 for almost two years now, and people are now comparing Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of multi-platform games, and not Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

In any case, those intangibles probably aren't going to make up the difference between the actual install base of the two consoles ... I would expect Fallout 4 will sell the most copies in North America on the Playstation 4, simply because of that difference.

I really do like my Vita, but the JRPG's are on 3DS man, and that's really the only games I can stand to play on portables. Plus never played a Pokemon game before.

Erm. I own both, and this year I have both trails in the sky second chapter and trails of cold steel coming. I don't think you've seen the upcoming jrpgs, because the vita has a ton. Most of them are now dual ps4 and vita releases.

My 3ds is gathering dust because I don't care for most of Nintendo's franchises other than Zelda, and there hasn't been much in the way of jrpgs that I've wanted for it. I am very much looking forward to forward Fire emblem though. That's kind of why I rebought a 3ds. This is my third time, since I always end up needing one fit at least one or two games.

I think the XB1 will take it because of the BB deal along with a few other deals that have popped up.

Abdiel, can you comment on Until Dawn? Did it seem like Sony terribly under ship it?

Hey Stryke, sorry for not answering earlier (I just saw your PM too... I don't get many, so I don't always notice the yellow mail icon, heh.)

Until Dawn is kind of a weird one. It flew so under the radar basically up until launch, and then all the positive impressions started showing up and yes, I've had more than a few people mention PewDiePie when they picked up a copy. Even people I know that aren't into horror games have talked about getting it because of his and other youtubers playing it. One said "I want to play and make difference choices! I got so mad when he let someone I liked get killed."

So, undershipped? Kinda. We got copies in, and a lot of those copies have now sold, but it still isn't like, megaseller status for us. It's interesting that it has a lot of potential though, with people that aren't really big "gamers", so to speak, the more casual folks that like jump scares and horror seem to find it really appealing.

It has sold better than I anticipated, and we did get a refresh shipment on it in the stores of my district. Pewd is the best advertising the game is going to get. Hahah.

Poor Wii U. This CoD Ghost and Black Flag sales are beyond awful.

Nice info, Abdiel.
I am not too much into horror, but it is always nice to see that a game that is clearly different from the mainstream finds success.
The game surely wasn't cheap to make, so someone believed in it and took a risc.

I need to remember to quote these numbers next time someone tries to tell me Western 3rd parties are going to support NX. Abysmal sales.

Why the April 2014 cutoff? I would think each of those games sold a lot more than that, as they tend to pop up in NPD year round.

While I'm not denying it will probably sell more depending on the gap, ESO surprisingly did better on Xbox despite there being a sizable sales gap and it having no marketing. So who knows how Bethesda games will fall

Late response to your post but my theory is that a chunk of PS4 players are tied into FF 14 and probably can't afford to pay another subscription for ESO.

Whereas XB1 just received it's first major MMO resulting in more sales but of course this concept is just pulled out my own ass :p

Wander if PS4 will be able to become a top performer for COD from this year or is this deal by Sony a bit too late to turn the tables?
