Also, I think we need to dispel the notion of Ric Flair being a guy who had 5 star matches every night. Yes, he had a couple of opponents with whom he could dance. Windham, Steamboat, etc. But 90% of the time, he was putting in middling efforts, running the same formula, and his career probably averages somewhere just slightly above the 3 star mark. I would suspect that someone like Steven Regal's body of work was probably better than Flair's.

How would you judge a wrestler, noted for use great usage of in ring psychology, who has the same match with Rey Mysterio as he did with El Gigante and worked the wrong leg to set up the figure-four for 40 years, all the while having his main and most memorable spot be a comedy prat fall that he would do sometimes up to 10 times in a match?

They've been dating for like 4 or 5 months know as far as I know. Being with the champ I'm sure makes a difference.

Also lets not kid ourselves and think that WWE actually pursues race issues amongst it's employees unless it's on full blast. If Michael Hayes is still VERY MUCH employed, why is it a surprise that Zahra's kept on a developmental contract?

Don't kid yourself.

I was never a Flair fan in WCW. As a kid I didn't know why this old guy was beating everyone(Despite Flair claiming WCW never booked him strong enough and as a joke[yes because you look like a joke compared to everyone else]). Like I never had that question with Hogan because he was huge and had super kayfabe powers. But I mostly ignored it. I liked his match with Henning. I found Flair boring as a wrestler and a promo guy and still did on everything post-NWA/Watts and the original Horsemen. So like RIGHT before Vader arrived in WCW. He had some great matches with Kerry, Terry Funk, and Steamboat.

Then he came to WWE. And I remember people saying, '50+ year old Ric Flair is having better matches' and I was befuddled. Like what the fuck are you talking about. The matches where he has the SAME BACK BODY DROP SPOT WITH EVERY WRESTLER and then has the SAME CHOP COMEBACK SPOT WITH EVERY WRESTLER? I can't stand Shawn Michaels as a character, and I'm not even a huge fan of his wrestling style, but I can see someone say he's an amazing wrestler and go 'yeah ok I can see why you'd think that.' The only reason I can think of people saying that for Intercontinental/Evolution/whatever Flair in WWE was that they had just always heard Flair was a great wrestler so whatever Flair does must be great.

My post-NWA things that I liked Flair in was Edge vs Flair and Taker vs Flair. And none of those featured Flair being anything more than, ironically, a glorified stuntman. I don't remember a single promo of his from that era nor any from the Bischoff WCW era. And his promos where he's not yelling are terrible. He sounds so dull in that stupid talk show thing he had.

If we're being honest, Data West, Ric Flair benefited from being on top in the dying days of the NWA territories, and once JCP took over, he just coasted on his reputation.

You guys can have your opinions I respect that. I just happen to agree with the likes of HHH and Stone Cold. Posting Mug Shots, doesn't change much for me.It doesn't mean 1982-1992 didn't happen.

Say what you will about Eva Marie, but she has a distinctive appearance and look. Easy to identify. I'd put her on a poster, or a bar.

What a surprise that HHH, who only became a wrestler because of Ric Flair and idolized him his whole life, later becoming best friends with him, would think Ric Flair is the best.

and yet from what I understand, never took up the bad habbits. Drinking, drugs, infidelity, etc.

Sure maybe a little juice, but what's wrong with that?

Believe me I could post a list and quotes a mile long from a lot of people in the business who would proclaim the same thing. But you already know that.

Does not mean you have to agree with it. I just understand where they are coming from, and I see it the same way.

The best defense of Flair is that standards change. He was ahead of the curve back then and an extremely well rounded performer. The perfect heel for the territory era. A great promo most nights. Extremely memorable persona, right behind hogan.

I forgot about Seth dating a racist. Put that at the top of the reasons why he shouldn't be main eventing. I'd say it makes it impossible for a babyface turn as well.

Save us, Stinger.

Then you should be able to understand all the people who don't agree with it. You're saying "you don't have to believe it" while also saying anyone who doesn't agree is just joke posting for attention.

But there are two things you haven't considered, Liquidsnake.

1) All pro wrestlers are liars.
2) Pro wrestling is a business in which you can count the number of elder statesmen on one hand. That's where the myth of Ric Flair being the best comes from. Everyone calls him the best because they need him to be the best in order to validate professional wrestling for themselves.

Those who know, Know. Those who don't choose not to understand. There are a few things that are not open for argument in life. And Flair being the best top to bottom champion, wrestler, talker is not open for debate in my eyes.

They haven't been posting opinions. They mainly been posting facts. Flair is a POS

Flair is a flawed man. Bad habits. Addiction ain't no joke. Infidelity, yup. And owes more than a few folks money. Lots of irresponsible decisions.

I don't know if you put him in the same category as child molester, murderer, or rapist though. Probably ain't no worse than many of your favorite musicians, actors, or athletes.

Not sure why he's the punching today.
