So why are we one of the most expensive places in the world for groceries? My little bit of googling came back with, "because we are used to paying high prices", but I didn't find anything conclusive. Are Coles/Woolies taking too much of a cut? We do most of our shopping at Aldi and find we end around 1/3 cheaper than shopping at the majors, granted Aldi do a lot of stuff in their own brands, but they do carry brand name items as well.
