EXCITEbots is great as a frantic, crazy racer in the vein of EXCITEtrucks. Love the animal robots, and the in-race side games to open new paths (e.g. playing a hand of poker, kicking a soccer ball (with the vehicle), bowling; all while racing) is truly surreal fun. Fast, fast, fast. If you like crazy and fast, picking it up is a nobrainer.

Play them in order. There isn't really any need to jump around and some of the later games have bonuses for owning the earlier games.

Unless of course there is a sale, then buy whatever is on sale.

The QOL improvements are nothing to worry about. Every entry is ultimately just more Picross at its core.

For this you should look into the maps individually, and see if you like what they offer.

Pack 2 however should definitely be bought in a bundle. It's practically an epilogue to the story, where you play as the kid units only. Also, Mat Mercer as Shigure sings "Lost in thoughts all alone". :3

I have put 170 hours into Fates, and will not hesitate to add more.
