I can stand flooding in the house, uverse knocked out and dealing with no internet. But the power going out every 20 minutes is really messing with my witcher time. Don't tell me to check my privilege when wraiths need a 'killin!
Yeah, hope everyone in Austin is safe. I just moved to San Antonio a month ago after being away from Texas for 6 years, and its nuts how much rain we are getting now. Atm, there is no rain here, so maybe we are getting lucky
My apartment buildings fire alarm went off a few hours ago because of a close lightning strike and it took forever to get the stupid thing shut off. Insane amount of rain we got up here in NW Austin
Wow, I didn't realize how bad it is out there. I'd have thought 15th street would be safe from the water from the lake below. Good thing that he was rescued.

Same thing happened at my apartments on Burnet because a freight elevator flooded and shorted. The alarm just went off forever while we all stood in our parking garage. I tried driving to Lamar afterwards but it was flooded. Ended up picking up a guy whose car got submerged but he climbed out the window. Went to North Loop to see a car submerged up to its roof. Crazy weather.
They sort of kicked us out of work early. I went in for some holiday pay. I work on the 4th floor and around 3pm they ushered everyone into the stairwells. Finally security told us we could go back to our desks. Boss came by and told everyone to consider checking the weather to determine when would be a good time to go home. I ended up hydroplaning most of the way home on 183.
Really late reply lol (I guess I should subscribe to the thread, once I lost sight of it, I forget about it), but last time I went was probably March, maybe February at the earliest. I think around that time because I wore a light jacket, since winter feels like spring down here.
But yea the weather is pretty crazy right now. I was thinking about seeing Mad Max today but when I got all the weather warnings on my phone, I just said screw it and played Bloodborne.
I was gonna see Purity Ring at the Stubbs outdoor amphitheater on Saturday, the opening acts played, then Megan James from PR came out and said it was canceled and moved to today at Austin Concert Hall due to the tornado warnings. Well they just announced it was canceled due to the floods.
Definitely should not have driven down Mopac this afternoon, but I had to do what I had to do. Certainly wasn't as bad as the people in San Marcos that lost their homes...

Yes, you should, and hopefully you did. Oh, well that's not too bad compared to the last time I went, which was in December. Damn did I miss it. You should go back sometime soon.
or we should all plan to eat at Ramen Tatsu-ya one day.
*cough* Winter feels like Winter to me, haha.
Damn weather ruining everything. I'm still completely shocked that something like this actually happening.
I don't remember the last time it rained so much consistently in Austin. I work in construction and this has played hell on our schedule. Driving back yesterday I think I had maybe 15 ft of visibility
A little late, but happy birthday! Hope you're having a great day.

I saw that Sony E3 will be shown in a theater in south Austin (tickets are available starting tomorrow at 11 am). Would you guys be interested in a meetup to watch this together, grab beer afterward?

Also - Im still down for a meet up at Emerald to play some board games if anyone is still interested!
edit - damnit, after reading the thread it looks like I missed a meet up at Pinballz! ((( fuuuuuuck!
Gotta add The Green Mesquite to the BBQ section, OP. They're my favorite in town. Also add Lucy's Fried Chicken on South Congress because they are freaking fantastic.
