What would be cool is if Netflix did a full-on accurate adaptation of Akira.

30 anime series for a whole year aren't a lot at all. If their target is 30 series for 2018, that seems kinda low really, considering how they already announced like 10 for early 2018 at their conference earlier this year. There's no doubt they are counting both ORIGINAL original titles, as well as the ones they are licensing for worldwide exclusives outside of Japan. Given that Netflix is the leading international streaming business, and how there are dozens of anime series every season in Japan.... I would expect an aggressive push to be closer to 40+ series tbh.
it'd be nice if netflix used their money on anything other than Berserk[b/] as the fandom will never be happy unless its prohibitively expensive .
like go make vinland saga or something instead
Actual number is much lower since they mean 12-13 episode series probably. So one full 22-52 episode series could count as 2-4 series in their definition.
Is there any worthwhile Netflix-produced animu?
it would be nice if netflix did a bersek sequel. it's crazy to think that after all these years all we have gotten is the original series.
That was what it was announced as from the start, yes.
This is kind of bad now. The storyboarding has taken a huge drop without Matsumoto and both episodes remind me of the weaker ones from the first season. The Blood Breeds aren't interesting villains as they're way too straightforward and due to Leo's contributions, they don't seem much of a threat now. That's not the big problem though, it's that Takayanagi is trying to ride off Matsumoto's style and approach but doesn't have his own flair to add so the whole production comes off as a B-team effort. There is a flashback that takes up half the episode and it's presented in the most boring manner possible. I'm trying to view this season as its own thing however it takes so much from the first season that I can't view it in isolation and it doesn't execute that approach nearly as well. Other than pictures of the waifu, I wasn't interested in taking any screencaps from this episode until the ED. You can see right there how much better of a storyboarder Matsumoto is.
Kawamoto's game still on point.
This shot of a falling star being reflected in Michella's eye is more artistic and beautiful than anything in the actual episode.
What the fuck? Did Klaus and Steven just timeskip for a period of months or something? Also I guess Klaus/Steven were friends before the Collapse as well? I thought Klaus came when the Collapse happened but the way the two were interacting implied they had been friends for a while at that point.
Will Eva 4.0 come out before the 3rd Heaven's Feel film?
Just Kuromukuro, Kakegurui, and the upcoming DEVILMAN crybaby.
BBB&Beyond-2
Edit: I forgot to mention that this scene has me completely puzzled.

Blast from that past God damn
What's a stoty.I cannot in good faith support Made in Abyss for AOTY but it is the forerunner for AOSTOTY right now.
medarot so gud

Maybe I'm wrong then. I haven't read the source, but I was under the impression that volume 1 ended with the bath scene revealing, which we saw at the end of this episode.Chihiro was female
Buy distribution rights, call it a Netflix Original.

ost of the year
which is true
I understand ducky's hesitance to grant MiA AotY, it is such a cruel thing the anime does to its viewers by giving us something so good with something very bad in between. Even if it doesn't stand out overall, it's painful to recommend this openly with the obligation to warn.

If you don't mind me asking, what was it that you found to be very bad about Made in Abyss?
Not in a production point of view but some choices or attempts at humorwith Riko being in the nude that (optimistically) goes along the lines of depicting childlike innocence but ends up being something more uncomfortable; the last episode scene goes further than that and it could've done without it.
I really don't think any of this content is really all that bad, at least not the way it's done in the anime (I still haven't looked at the manga outside of the first chapter.)What? When she sees Reg's peepee?
Poor Nash. He probably won't be hearing from that ear anymore.
That scene in the first episode is fine considering it seemed like something that was driven out of plain curiosity but it was a bit awkward. The last episode scene was straight up uncomfortable but yeah, thankfully it was brief.
You could say it's okay to be uncomfortable but if the intention is to try to sound funny, there's better ways to do that.
I guess I'm having trouble understanding since none of it made me comfortable. Kids are curious creatures, and Riku's interest/oblivious curiosity over Reg's privates is, honestly, a bit how some kids are. I never saw it as more than essentially Dragon Ball level humor.
Edit: Just saw your edit. I definitely agree it's the kind of humor you should mention to people though. I might not find it uncomfortable at all, but I am aware others do, just as they did Dragon Ball's stuff.
I'm a little surprised to be saying this but I'm kind of worried about the production values if we're only on the second episode and the fighting is already this lackluster. Kawamoto and staff should have been working on this show for almost the entire year so I would expect the entire cour to look really high end. This episode hopefully is just an anomaly. For instance, part of the climax involves Klaus holding out for a long time against the Blood Breed, but in practice it felt like a handful of seconds, against an attack he seemed to have no difficulty defending.
What threw me for a loop was how all those people were acting normal after the merger so I assume that Steven and Klaus had been thrown ahead by a months to a point where things were returning to normal (somewhat) in NYC. The whole thing is confusing because they don't elaborate on it.My understanding is that the spell that the outside human casters used on the city basically returned NYC to our world and merged it with the overlapping demon realm to make it stable again. I guess the change happened instantaneously. Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense.
And yeah, I'd thought Libra came into existence after Hellsalem's Lot, but I guess people were doing supernatural shit in our world beforehand in secret?
Symphogear G - 4
If this show had a modicum of self-decency it would put Hibiki and Tsubasa on a boat and make Chris the main character.
The anime tones down the visual presentation a bit (thankfully, because I couldn't justify reading the manga), but there's no question that the manga author has a distasteful interest in young children, made clear not just by his propensity to get Riko naked and his obsession with Reg's genitals but also by his interest in putting young girls through physical torture. Taken together, it goes beyond typical shounen pervy humor into the realm of lolicon fantasy. His artistry and creativity in creating a world is admirable, and I really love what the anime did with the material overall, but I can't completely ignore the morally dubious aspects of the story.
