Avengers Doomsday Cast Announced

Filming had kicked off Monday, but apparently the script needs constant adjustments because they haven't finalised casting. :messenger_grimmacing_

Episode 2 Whatever GIF

Questionable source to say the least (his Wikipedia article details past unprofessional behavior and misreports), plus this was exactly how both Avengers Infinity War and. Endgame were handled in terms of filming and their scripts. Which makes this "inside scoop" even more sketchy, as it seems likely he just took note of how the scripts were handled for Infinity War and Endgame and is assuming the same will be the case for Doomsday, but by not mentioning the Infinity War and Endgame scripts were handled the same way he can trick his audience into believing this is OMG, BAD NEWS, INSERT DRAMATIC MUSIC!

So even if the source isn't full of shit, this is hardly new for the MCU even in terms of prior Avengers films.

But the later Avengers films were the culmination of a decade worth of intent and focus with a core group that had been in successful films (together) before with the addition of current and very popular characters (GOTG, etc). So even if they were a bit loosey goosey with working them in as actor demands warranted, they had a much easier path. And the later Avengers does feel a bit like several films running concurrently instead of a single narrative if you try to watch it without thinking about the story around it. Doomsday has a MUCH harder hill to climb, I think, especially if Thunderbolts and F4 are tepid at best. A LOT of this film is gonna have to be devoted to Doom, I think, which will make it even harder to just drop in Shang-chi for a single scene and have the audience even remember who he is.

This seems to be the course for Marvel these day, It will be the usual and it will be reshot to hell months before it comes out in cinema, they will then cobble a movie out of about 3 different films they shot.

Infinity War was mostly devoted to Thanos. Thanos himself was not heavily in films prior to that, only a non-speaking cameo in Avengers 1 and a single scene in Guardians 1. The Infinity Stones themselves were what was set up, but if Doomsday has less of a focus on such a MacGuffin, the "lack of buildup" will be irrelevant. Plus, it's the multiverse that will be a relevant factor which has been built up in Phases 4 and 5. If anything, they have an easier job than they would with Kang who requires developing multiple versions of him, whereas presumably only one Dr. Doom will be in these two Avengers films.

The people who have already seen Thunderbolts seem to be mostly positive, so I'm not too worried about that one.

I'm not worried about, say, Shang-Chi. Don't forget, none of the Ant-man films did big box office numbers, even the first one, yet the Russo Bros and their writers had no issues endearing Scott to audiences in Civil War. They also achieved it with T'Challa in the same film and he hadn't even appeared in a film prior. So they've achieved stuff like this before.
