Not sure if I like Thanos crushing planets with a gesture to be honest, sounds like DBZ and it sounds like it will make the film jump the shark. Yes, I am aware of his ridiculous powerlevels in the comics, but one reason I like the MCU films is that the powers are relatively grounded, they do a good job at bringing the heroes to the screen in a believable way with at least some sense of balance (still very much over the top, obviously).

For example, how am I supposed to believe any of the avengers can fight this guy? Why, instead of crushing a planet, he doesn't just crush one of the avengers with all that force? There is a limit to what I can believe on the screen and I fear this film will cross that significantly.

It seems like people go out of their way to not understand what's happening. The whole point is that he's ridiculously powerful and they have to figure out how to stop him.

I don't think they'd vaporize Xandar because they do still plan on doing a Nova movie IIRC.

Yeah they would. DnA's awesome Marvel Cosmic run begins with Xandar and the Nova Corps getting totally rekt in an instant.
It's also an easy way to show that Thanos is a serious threat.

Purple = Power and blue = Space, so this actually makes sense in its weird comic logic way.

I think they might have shown the gauntlet with those to avoid potential spoilers.
