Avengers IW trailer info

Hope they make it really long like 3 hours or something lol

Yeah this is one of the few films I think almost requires a 3 hour rum time. The cast is enormous and it seems a lot needs to happen story wise. If it's only 2 hours I think it might feel really rushed

I have a love and hate relationship with the MCU movies.

I love Superheroes and love seeing them on the big screen,

I hate the super safe product appoach that MCU takes on most of their movies, esepecially the Avengers. Those movies could be so much more but just seem like an episodic product instead of by ground shaking.

What needs to happen story wise? Thanos and his croonies decide to get the stones themselves. They start destroying worlds looking for leads and finds out they are all on Earth. The GotG get wind of the destruction while running into Thor. Thor tells them the stones are on Earth. Thanos starts heading towards Earth. Earth heroes start noticing disturbances as the invasion draws near. Tony Stark comes up with a terrible plan. The plan fails and Thanos starts rekting everyone. The GotG show up with a real plan. Everyone works together, they almost win. Something else goes wrong at the end, leading to the next film.

Doesn't feel like a 3 hour movie to me. Mostly action, lots of short beats, some exposition scenes. Just like Civil War.

If and when Marvel release this trailer Comic Con seems likely) I really hioe they don't cut out the like 2 minutes of build up this had talking about the past movies and the Infinity Stones. Would be hype inducing

There's a reason we're getting 2 movies instead of one. It's not like Avengers 4 will be something wholly irrelevant.

I thought one was on Asgard and the another was with the Nova Corps.

Well one thing to keep in mind is Feige said Thanos is essentially the main character of this film. General audiences still don't really have a firm idea about him other than a couple of brief glimpses totaling up to a few minutes and other characters mentioning him. I suspect we are going to get quite a bit in this film of just Thanos and his generals, without the Avengers even on screen with him. Marvel probably knows they get criticized for their villains a bit and this is supposed to be THE major one for the MCU. He's probably going to get a lot of screen time.

Couple that with an insane cast, which Marvel likes to try to give everyone "their moment" in these films. That's a lot of heroes to squeeze in there. Also like you mention there will probably be some crazy action scenes and the Thanos one has to be the biggest they've ever done.

Age of Ultron was already a 2 hour and 22 minute movie and Civil War 2 and a half. I'm not saying its impossible to get everything done in that short of amount of time but it just feels like there is quite a bit there. Then again we don't really know how much Infinity War plays directly into Avengers 4 or say Captain Marvel, so maybe they are spreading this all out a bit more.

Feige says a lot of things. Talk is cheap though. Based on how they have handled everything so far, I will happily assume that it just means Thanos has more than 20 lines, and he opens and ends the film. It'll be "about" him, but I'm not expecting Marvel Studios to suddenly figure out how to make a super compelling villain when they have shown again and again that they love to waste cool designs and concepts. His croonies will have 5-10 lines each at best, half of those will be combat orders or retorts, and have zero development. Bank on it.

Still no leaks? 😞

This image was probably made by someone who goes to the Joss Whedon "shallow shock value deaths = stakes" school of thought

lol..Nah. GAFer made it.

That or it's a joke image.

I know good ol' Gordon is using it as a joke.

For sure. Hear that stakes shit so much I get nosebleeds. Meanwhile, Superman is coming back and it's all crickets lol..STEAKS!

Lol harsh but there is a very strong chance this is accurate.

I'm just keeping my hopes up they really deliver on Thanos, but yeah given their track record here it could play out exactly like your saying.

Also one thing to consider is a 3 hour runtime is a dangerous game. If it isn't paced well that could lead to really negative word of mouth so I can see why Marvel would want to come in under that.

I'm fairly certain that IW will have a major effect on Marvel films concurrently and in the future at least.

Well the trailer does seem to show that he already has two stones on the Gauntlet.... so maybe....

Seems to be some conflicting reports. Gizmodo is claiming that Thanos had the Blue and Purple Infinity Stones (which were on Asgard and Nova respectively) during the final moon-exploding shot of the trailer.

Other sources say there's a brief glimpse of Gamora standing in the wreckage of the Collector's museum, where the Red stone was kept.

I doubt Thanos trashed the Collector's museum and somehow managed to not make off with the Red stone, so the simplest explanation is that Gizmodo messed up and Thanos has three stones by the time he arrives at Earth, which makes sense considering the final two are in Strange's and Vision's possession.

She was under contract for Fox to do Gulliver's Travels, and couldn't play Black Widow as a result, yes.

You know, years later she's still kicking herself over that. Let's see Gulliver's Travels or being Black Widow in the MCU?

I mean she was under contract so not her fault, but damn that's gotta be a tough break.

I'm really wondering what the tone for this is gonna be like.

Feige at one point said something to the effect that Marvel would never make a "dark" film but this description sounds pretty world ending at least to me. I know that the stones themselves are basically built in undo buttons but it sounds like Marvel is finally about to throw some climatic shit at their heroes.

Then again all of it could get interrupted by one-liners from Quil, Rocket, Stark, Peter, etc. I can't imagine Marvel will hope to recoup the budget of a film this big without having a heavy helping of levity in there so people will want to see it not only once but multiple times.

I'm betting it'll only be just a notch or two more serious than a normal Marvel film. Thinking about it the lead up to AoU also made it seem like it would be some heavy shit and we know how that turned out lol.

Everything sounds amazingggggggggggggg

I kind of want them to include Skye as like a small nod to AOS but I understand why they probably won't. Does it look like Defenders will be in it?

I hope they don't fuck it up with constant quips. I enjoy the light hearted nature of the MCU in general but every once in a while it feels a bit too much. There's certain times I want them to push harder into a darker more serious tone. I felt personally they kinda nailed that in the finale for Civil War. That final fight between Tony and Cap and Bucky felt legit serious and there weren't jokes being thrown around.

They don't need to make this overbearingly dark, but I hope they keep an overall serious vibe to it.

Not sure if I like Thanos crushing planets with a gesture to be honest, sounds like DBZ and it sounds like it will make the film jump the shark. Yes, I am aware of his ridiculous powerlevels in the comics, but one reason I like the MCU films is that the powers are relatively grounded, they do a good job at bringing the heroes to the screen in a believable way with at least some sense of balance (still very much over the top, obviously).

For example, how am I supposed to believe any of the avengers can fight this guy? Why, instead of crushing a planet, he doesn't just crush one of the avengers with all that force? There is a limit to what I can believe on the screen and I fear this film will cross that significantly.

Gimping all the heroes is one of the worst parts of the MCU.

Why are people worrying about the tone?

It's the same writers and directors as Civil War.

Nuff said.

Whedon leaving when he did may have been the best outcome in hindsight.

Dang. No Captain Marvel reveal like I was hoping for. Sounds amazing though!! I can't believe we're almost there after a decade haha.

Bummer there's nothing from Marvel being released online.

Or from D23 in general. No panels or anything.

IDK I just feel like stuff like this and comic-con are really old fashioned in terms of not releasing things online. We are in 2017, its an online world. Everything shown at any of these should be available a few hours later for streaming, even if you want to put a paywall up

I disagree. I want schlock. But i'm one of those weirdos that likes Batman and Robin.
