sounds like it's gonna be awesome

I don't mind saying that there is another Konami title – which I can't mention because they haven't closed the deal on it - that Christophe and Sam are in talks about right now. We've already gone into discussions about adapting that material and that would, I must say, be a dream come true.

i wonder what game that may be....

That was nice. Silent Hill might be the ultimate movie based on a game!!! It should definetely help the series expand.

I believe there are only 2 cinematic Konami games, Silent Hill and MGS, so probably its a MGS movie.

Its nice though, Konami probably has alot of faith with these guys and they probably liked the SH movie material enough to offer them another project.

Whatever it is, I hope it's not Metal Gear. I think Castlevania would work pretty well for the director.

Metal Gear doesn't fit Christophe Gans' MO, and Castlevania would seem a little weak for a movie license after Van Helsing. Maybe it's Winning Eleven: The Movie, after all soccer is huge in Europe! :lol

/me runs.

I'm more than excited as a serious silent hill fan who's hoped for this day to come.

I really don't want it to be MGS, please be castlevania PLEASE.

Then again, damn van helsing...

just watch Session 9 instead.

Okay, it's not quite the same as it doesn't have weird monsters walking around, but the set and some of the themes are there.

I would be there opening day for a Gans Castlevania movie with Vincent Cassel! ROXOXOXX!

And they can have his wife Monica Bellucci as tits out succubus! wooowooowooo - I win lots! :lol

Jacob's Ladder was an inspiration for the first Silent Hill.

Brotherhood of the Wolf was sooooooooooo good. Check it out.

And Sean Bean is always top-notch..... though 9 out of 10 times, he dies in the movie!

oh uh, spolier!!! haha

But yea, looking forward to this one.
It'll have the creepiness and eeriess the RE movies lacked.

Think its going to be a horror movie, or just a creepy action flick?

We sat down and played the game every day and observed its many different movements. I have to say, the dialogue in these games is very badly written. Have you ever heard of the game Zero Wing – "all your base are belong to us; make your time gentlemen; someone set us up the bomb"? That’s usually the quality of the translations, so we attempted to go through and smooth it out to help it make sense.

:lol

This caught my eye the most:
But in the script phase, we had long, long moments where seemingly nothing happens. It's all atmosphere – you're falling slowly into a world and experiencing it much like you would in the game.
Sold.

Looks like March is the rumoured release date - let's hope it brings good tidings and sets the stage for Halo in 2007.

going by the article, seems like a real horror movie (just like how the game is)

the article says that parts with dialogue will have heavily dialogue... then most of the movie is just silent like in the real game.

Much of the game's atmosphere is derived from either being or becoming lost in its labyrinthine environments – this is something that's more difficult to evoke when you're tied to a movie's duration. Was this a consideration when adapting the game?

Actually, because of that it became a very difficult script for the studio to accept. We had long passages with no dialogue. Christophe wanted to ensure that when we wanted to have dialogue, we wrote it big. But for the most part, much of the movie is a silent film – we wanted it to be full of silence. So there are scenes where Rose is just wandering through Silent Hill.

If there ever was a Metal Gear movie, then Square showed how it should be done. Don't try to get people that look like the characters, make it animated (for MG they could use the MGS4 engine).

Actually consider Metal Gear uses a realistic military setting and movie influences(one that reaches to the realms of the X-files at times), using CG just really wouldn't cut it for Metal Gear. Most of the stuff is already in real life, just more advanced and CGI effects would do the trick. If it's just CGI, then it really would be no point in a Metal Gear movie for hollywood.

The weaponry and settings wouldn't be a problem, the casting would be the problem. Look at game to movie castings that have happened in the past. That's all the reason you need for them not to do a live action version of MG.

I thought it was confirmed to be an April 21st release.
