Everyone talks about Silent Hill and RE

…but does anyone remember D?

I was too young to actually play this when it came out but I remember thinking the box art and vibe was pretty effectively creepy.

I don't think it (or its sequel) was that successful but I think it would be cool to see some kind of modern adaptation.

I remember it but don't believe I ever played it. Or if I did it was only briefly. This is the 'forgotten' game that is stuck in my niche memory.

You play a cameraman and can be a massive pervert and/or asshole if you want with scoring similar to what Capcom used in Dead Rising's photo mode.

D had limited "gameplay" and basically interactive movie. The storyline is very interesting but its non existence gameplay made it forgettable.

Yeah, I played D on my friends Sega Saturn. There was a part where a picture laughed and it freaked me out. I'm sure it's nothing nowadays.

Edit: here it is. 29:00

Also, still seems very spooky. The low production values add to the creepiness.

On topic. Always been curious about the game, never got a chance to try it.

I thought OP was going to be about something like Fatal Frame.
I've never played any of the Fatal Frame games either but they look pretty good. I feel like there's a lot of horror franchises sleeping right now

Fatal Frame 2 is by far the scariest game I've ever played. Still worth playing and makes the first game obsolete IMO.

Fatal Frame 3 is pretty good too. Had a lot of 'The Grudge' influence since that was popular at the time.

I rented this not long after it came out. Hated it and returned it before it was due. I just remember it being one of those interactive movie things and we were pissed that there was no gameplay. Not sure what we expected?

Yeah, it seemed very much like some Sewer Shark bullshit that was going around in the first half of the 90s. The premise and look of it was cool, it's a shame it wasn't much of an actual game.

Might sound weird now but our horror game standard was the PS1 version of Doom. Me and my friend who I always rented games with were obsessed with that version and ran the RCA cables through his home stereo to tape the music. The sound design and added lighting in that version made it feel cutting edge creepy. So I remember us trashing the corny music etc. in D.

never played it, only heard it.
the graphic unbearable even at the time.
some other psx horror which never talked are more interesting for me
for example twillight syndrome or maybe clock tower

Played it on release on Playstation and was extremely disappointed with it. During that time information about games was scarce so I bought it solely based on the cool cover and the fact it was on FOUR discs, which for me was a sign of great quality. Well, turns out it wasn't a sign of quality, but a sign of how trash it was. A super difficult and obtuse interactive puzzle game that you could beat within two hours. I spent most of my saved money on this dung heap, money I saved for a long time, and that stung worse than an actual bee sting. The 90s video game era could be brutal sometimes.
