Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

That run was pretty cool for a few reasons

- The runner and the ones doing commentary did a great job of keeping it fun
- It was cool just seeing the game in action even though it was all in Japanese and all cut scenes got skipped
- It's something different! It isn't just a 2D platformer or Zelda game or racing game! Very few RPGs get in so it is cool to see some variety

Also did not realize Oracle of Ages was right now. Fuck me I'm staying up for this now.

Fire Emblem must be on the cusp as far as balancing between shit people will watch and shit people want to play. i.e., lots of FE fans run the game or ask to run the game even though so few viewers give a damn, and this is a peace offering in lieu of all the other boring games that get cut.

It's crazy that the series keeps getting into marathons. I have tried every time to get into each run, but they're always really boring and usually go poorly.

1/3 (or 4 if we count the FE7 bonus stream) is "usually" now?

besides that one run failed because the dude entirely ignored actual speedrun strats lol

The game may be fun to play, I don't know.

However, it's boring as fuck to watch.

Generally any run over an hour is pretty tough for me to find engaging, but it just comes with the territory. When these kind of runs come on I tend to just keep the stream open in a browser tab and listen to it in the background.

Has the Super Mario 64 race between PunCay, Cheese (DA GOD), and Simple happened yet?

Hope I didn't miss it, anyone know when it does happen if it hasn't gone yet?

Dood! This next game is going to be fun to watch Dood!

I'd like to see someone speed run Advance Wars and with Grit, Andy, and Sami for the end characters against Sturm.
One of the GDQs did have Advance Wars submitted but it was rejected. It was a control enemy glitch (it might have been the map edit glitch and you delete the enemy HQ and all units though...) where they would yield every time making for something repetitive and boring to watch.

I think Advance Wars: Dual Strike was seen at ESA (a European speedrunning event) though on their B stream. I can't find it on thier youtube channel but it would look something like this.

yo that's broken crafting
They were playing the Japanese version of Path of Radiance? For those unaware in the Japanese version if you forge a weapon with 5% critical and choose to forge the critical stat down to 0% it becomes 255% critical :O

I can't catch the VOD yet as the VOD thread wants me to got to hour 12 of a 11 minute video and the youtube channel is only up to Diddy Kong Racing.
Edit: And fucked up echo chamber DKR at that...they had the same fucking glitch last time :(

Wish this was an expert race, we used to do those back in the day, hard as nails but hilarious

L4D2 is a good filler for early morning

4 people conversing instead of 1 couch commentator and 1 player the late/early runs are plagued with

I liked the Path of Radiance run. Although there was one thing they could have done to make it a little bit more interesting. A "Defeat the Black Knight" donation incentive. That can go so hilariously, horribly wrong, but that would be the point of the incentive.

Luckily we have... Darksiders 2 coming up.

I find it hard to believe somebody played through that game once, let alone wanting to speed run it.

IIRC the game has lots of glitches like infinite jumps and out of bounds, so it's more interesting than a normal playthrough at least

It'd be nice if it was possible to get the same Expert 100 Marios Challenge on two different machines. I don't think that's doable at the moment, is it?
in a 100 Mario challenge both players getting the same map would be really really really lucky but for the GDQ race they are using saved custom levels on the console.

Yeah dunno how you can speed run L4D, because this game doesn't have a real ending, game is going on infinite.
Let's see how Darksiders II is holding up.

Screw you guys. I thought Darksiders 2 was awesome back then and it probably still is!

Darksiders 1 on the other hand.. now that's a boring game.

Don't worry, I can understand people loving it!

But man, the games you are comparing it too must have really, really sucked ;)

This run is officially dank now.

I liked DS2 myself too. But man this game suffered from god awful juddering on PC.
