Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

I assume it's a cheaper alternative to a figure. I always see pearlers and think about getting one for a game I really care about, but never do.
You could just buy a pearler kit and make one yourself, and then realize you have no use for them because any self respecting adult don't decorate their home with pearlers.

oh god found the best comment ever on reddit

"over 30 notes per second atm, this guy could single handedly out spam twitch chat

"

lol

Yetee selling tanktops just for this guy and trihex.

I could, but that's more work. I also still wouldn't be opposed to a smaller one that could fit on my bookshelf especially if it's a sprite I really love or for a game I really love. I already have amiibos and some figures littering my home, so pearlers really aren't that far off.

I'm still salty Caleb's run got cut. I don't even really like the guy as a streamer that much but you have to treat people better and give them a break.

Yeah, Caleb and TriHex are super charismatic and great for runs, but I like having some lesser known people on stream giving it a good shot.

Damnit speak into the mic! Do they not correct people when they can't hear them? Noticed the same thing in the Batman race pre-interview with Riche yesterday

Edit: lol seems like they fixed it now

Is Dom the guy who looks like he'd be on Pawn Stars and has a name that sounds like he'd be on Pawn Stars :3

Now you've got me wondering. I mean, did AGDQ set up the stream so the guy on the right has his window on the right? I'm assuming they did.

...And he's behind again.

I know at least in the past it has been messed up. I noticed in the 4p races the top 2 screens corresponded to the middle 2 people, but the bottom 2 were backwards (i.e. BR was the person on the far left). I do wish they would get that on lockdown.

I forgot about Tokyo Attack being there.

Yeah, someone bring one of those pros in here to show these kids how it's done.

I'm amused that you can forget about them when their logo literally appears on stream like every other minute. (MAGFest is the other arcade provider, and their logo similarly appears in the rotation.)

WTF?! Now I'm mad. They have a Dedicab as well. ahhhhhhh!
I have to go to SGDQ now. Especially if they have tokyo attack there again as well. There's no reason not to have a "Rhythm game showcase". That would be so cool.

The games are there for registered attendees to play. They're one of the many perks for attending in person, along with the free breakfast. I think the logistics of having to schedule a time where a given game has to be broken down, brought to the stream room, lifted onto the stage (yes, the stage is elevated), built back up, and all the stream cameras and capture equipment reconfigured to use the game are a bit too difficult to use them for any purpose other than attendee entertainment.

For those that want to see the arcade room, there's this video taken earlier this weekend featuring the people you see commenting on Mega Man X right now. Destructoid also posted some photos.

This and the Castlevania 3 race have been pretty close for quite a while. Both went for at least 15 minutes with only 15ish seconds of difference and that's nuts.

Pay your six-year-old niece a dollar to do it.

I don't have any that live close to me. I would of used them for child labor much earlier if that was the case.

Okay yeah I didn't know the stage was elevated which basically breaks my hopes and dreams. There have been ITg tourneys were we separate the pads from the machines and have one pad per TV, but even that would probably take too long.

Thanks for the photos and video. I'd love to one these now, just as an attendee.

Well fuck I guess you should pay five dollars for a chance at winning a pearler then.

DA COMEBACKS

I don't have enough room for the Pearlers they're raffling and I don't even care that much about MMX. Fuck it though, I might as well start collecting them now.

I think it would kind of depend on the cabinet. I would imagine that it might be practical to get something like a Pop'n or Sound Voltex cab moved in and out in a semi-reasonable amount of time (assuming you already have the cabinets set up to stream from -- which is a non-trivial problem), but something like a IIDX or DDR cabinet? Forget that, those things are a pain in the ass to move.

Or you could just run something like Lunatic Rave 2 or K-Shoot Mania. :p

Races are so boring if you're not already familiar with the community for each game. Rather than explain anything, commentators just throw out in jokes talk about how close things are.

Son of a bitch! I had to go out and come back just in time to see the very end of a MMX race with Caleb and Big Jon on the couch. I hate everything.

Eh, I have little familiarity with Mega Man X outside of playing a friend's copy decades ago at this point and I still found it exciting mostly due to the commentators.
