Just picked this up. Actually my first time playing Awesomenauts. The art style really caught my attention, so I had to grab it.

Hoping for tons of fun.

Cool, thanks. I like the upgraded triple jump of the cowboy guy. Does anyone have a good build order? Not sure of an efficient order of buying upgrades.

Lonestar is probably the best character to start out with as his skills are pretty straightforward.

There's several tactics/builds that are viable, you can max out dynamite ASAP for example or upgrade his gun ASAP.

Or even become a jack of all trades by building up all your skills steadily instead.

Anyway I would suggest to any new player to duke it out in Practice Mode and try every Naut at least one time in there. Then you know what powers you will face online and in the meantime you received a lot of new talents and experience in the flow of the game.

Also never do nothing, when there's no enemy Nauts around kill droids, if there are no droids around grab coins, push turrets etc.
Just flying around looking cool when the enemy is killing droids will make them higher level than you soon and this means also stronger.
And last but not least, fleeing beats dieing!!!!
 
Do you think this game has enough players on PS4 or is it going to die out soon? I'm interested buying it but worried that if I don't play it enough right now, I'll miss out the action.

Btw. is there a way to check the leaderboards for total # of players?

I checked the leaderboards last weekend and noticed more than 14.000 entries.

Picked this up day one on the PS4 after loving the free offering on the PS3, felt the need to give the devs something back.

Great fun game, that I need to get back in to.

Well the PC version Ayla has been patched iirc but the PS4 version is not yet up to date.

In the mean time I think you are exaggerating, Ayla is a pain but not super overpowered at all.

Yeah, usually destroy her with froggy. Lure her towards a turret but not too close, dash stun (which carries on her momentum) then tornado while the turret is getting her and her power is still being sapped by rage.

Not sure if she needs a patch against other characters, but I rarely have a problem. Even when they have loads of kills against others. I play her quite a bit and usually just use her as a Gnaw turret killer.

Get better.

She's nearly a one-trick pony, and she's definitely hard for a novice to deal with. 1v1 against her probably won't work - your team needs to understand what's going on.
 
Yeah, Ayla's really easy to counter once you've settled into a main. I main Skolldir, and I'd say that I can win 9/10 encounters with Ayla so long as I have more than 1 unit of health. Just use your character's stun/knockback move and run for it if you can't think of any way to deal with her in a fight.

Soooo the game isn't even loading for me today. Once it gets past the initial load screen I just get a black screen. If I delete and reinstall do I lose all of my progress?

Toss her a case of the Swiggins. Every time she tries to bum rush me with her rage, I toss my Humbolt at her and trap her and run away. Or if the entire party is there, trap her and kill her. No Muss no fuss.

There's definitely ways to get around it but yeah a lot of newer players gravitate towards her and she can be difficult to deal with

I love meeting her with Coco, the Rage is draining her life making my Electric Bomb hurt even more, and if she's stupid enough to follow me (which a lot of them do), my Electric Trail or whatever it's called will finish the job.

New Starstorm 'Naut is called Penny Fox. Also this one of the skins for her. I would of liked the name Foxy.
 
I LOVE this game. Just picked it up on PS4. It's my first MOBA. What a freakin' blast it is to play! Haven't had this much fun in front of the TV since I don't know. No anxiety or beads of sweat like when I play B4 or COD. Just pure fun. Really enjoying the art style. Played my 6th or 7th game and went 12-4. We lost, but it was my best match so far.

She can be annoying but most players over-extend her in an attempt to stack kills. Bait her into away from tower/allies and if possible, into an area with lots of platforms where she can miss paths. Once her bubble dies, swoop in for the kill with slows/DOTs.

tl;dr, Ayla players get too cocky for their own good. Play patiently to counter.

Awesomenauts is one of those games that is hard to "get" the appeal until you watch some Let's Plays and play a few matches to catch the competitive bug.

It does lack in depth as far as variety of builds, but the depth comes from learning to play better/smarter than your opponent. Most players over-rely on one-trick tactics and don't adapt on the fly. Taking these players out is the most rewarding part of the game.

I've been playing that butterfly character a lot lately (can't remember the name) and it's a great counter to Ayla (since there always seems to be one on the opposing team). Flys at you using rage cocoon her and set up a dot cloud to drain her after. I've personally killed and assisted so many Alyla players using that character I know they're raging on the other end

Also am I correct in saying that the ps4 version is a few patches behind the PC and that there's an impending balance for Alya?

The PS4 version is definitely behind. PC update is live (balancing and a new Naut), but not on PS4.

Wasn't the balance supposed to come in a huge update once Starstorm was finished and then ported to the PS4?

Ayla is fun as shit though. Toss that annoying thing into the turret with Skolldar. Me and my friend who do Couch Op play actually set up a toss, with Skolldar, I latch onto her with the Anchor and then we finish her off. We pass her around like a Prison inmate.

Honorary Star Scout Penny Fox is on a personal quest to rid the galaxy of all evil. In pursuit of these lofty goals, she has traveled all over the worlds to collect weird aliens and put them in jars for her private collection. During her latest travels her scooter broke down in the Raki system, forcing her to scour for spare parts on the nearby starstorm station. It is there that she found a mysterious robotic claw, which would lead her to the adventure of a lifetime!

Her skills are as follows:

Pounce
Consume all charges to charge forward, knocking back enemies you come in contact with. Each charge increases range and damage.

Energy pulse
Consume up to 4 charges to shoot a piercing energy pulse that amplifies damage. Each charge increases the damage.

Claw
Penny strikes with her claw awarding a charge when hitting an enemy. Max 4 charges.

Leap
Being super agile, Penny can leap up and perform a double jump.

Tweaked the sizes of the leagues
-After analysing metrics it turned out that the leagues sizes improved last patch but could be better.
-The new league sizes will be in between the sizes of pre season 9 and the current season, but closer to the current.


General changes and fixes
-Projectiles now move along with moving platforms
-All boots speed reduced by 0.2
-Base speed of all characters increased by 0.2
-All ‘nauts now have a small healthregen from start (60 health per minute)
-Med-i'-can, health per minute reduced from 100 to 70
-Med-I'-can, price reduced from 120 to 90 Solar per stage
-Piggybank, put some extra Solar coins in the bank from 115 to 130 Solar
-All pills now are now percentage based instead of a flat health increase (15% health per stage)

-NEW! Whenever you receive solar from any effect the amount will pop up at your character (solar pickups, kills, specific item effects etc).
-Damage number sizes have been overhauled, tweaked and resized and are now anchored to the world instead of the affected character.
-Fixed an issue where damage numbers would become unreadable when a lot of instances of damage were dealt.
-Damage numbers will now show damage blocked (Indicated by a shield icon).
-Various effects that cause your next hit to be improved (such as Swiggins’ Poolboy) now also cause the affected skill’s icon to change until the improved hit is done.

-Prefab cocoon, price reduced from 205 to 190 Solar per stage
-The last pieridae transformae, price reduced from 200 to 185 Solar
-Spiritual cooking, now lasts until death
-Cocooned targets can not be pushed anymore

I love all the UI improvements to the game now. Outside Penny this patch is massive in what it adds to the game.

Also dem Ted nerf haha.

All this talk about the PC version from Ronimo and just like last gen no word on any console updates whatsoever.

Hope they don't abandon the consolenauts AGAIN...
