Hm. Adamantium bones in a growing child.
Hm.
IIRC Dr. Kinney suggested a female clone because the Y chromosome on their file sample of Wolvie's DNA was too damaged to repair or replace. By dropping the Y and making the clone XX, they were finally successful in the cloning process. Right?Lyte Edge said:Never saw the character in X-Men Evolution, but the backstory behind X-23 in the Marvel continuity is that she's a clone of Wolverine; after Logan went beserk and left the facility during the Weapon X program, research continued as they tried to grow clones of him, and a female scientist brought in to work on the project found that making the clone female instead male would speed up the process by 10 years for some reason.

And at this point in the story I don't believe X-23's entire skeletal structure has undergone the adamantium bonding process yet - just her claws. Something about them maturing faster than the rest of her body; they were there at birth, after all. The Weapon X goons bombarded her with a lethal dose of radiation to trigger her X-Gene mutation before puberty, to accelerate her healing factor's development.
And you guys suck: this is the most interesting thing to happen to Wolverine since Origin.
First 1/2 of Origin = Good. Second 1/2 of Origin = Bleh. In terms of quality, Origin was a mixed bag at best. But thats irrelevant; my point was that Origin actually brought something new and interesting to the table for Wolverine, and thats a rare thing these days.DarienA said:<sigh> Poor Spike... I lament his lost Sanity.... I personally thought Origin was GARBAGE.... add X-23 to that pile.

The current story isn't meant to go anywhere... it's just a good old fashion Wolverine vs. everybody story. Sometimes it's a good thing to pull back from always trying to make each storyline deep and meaningful.Spike Spiegel said:As a character, Wolverine has a lot of the same problems that Superman does. He falls prey to the status quo mentality. He gets passed over for meaningful character development, in favor of other X-Men that arent as (over)exposed. Hes treated like a caricature in his guest appearances, for comedic effect and often at his own expense. Even in his own solo series, hes not immune to these problems; this Hydra/S.H.I.E.L.D. thing might be going somewhere, but its too early to tell at this point. I mean, lets face it: since Origin, there really havent been any significant happenings in Wolverines story. And before that, what? The adamantium loss?
Bleh, her gestation was one of the most convulted ever... hey we created this character for the cartoon... hey now let's put her in the comics... but it's not really the cartoon character so now we've got to come up with a origin, etc....So when something like X23 comes along, that stands a chance at adding something new and interesting to the weathered, tangled tapestry that is Wolverines story, Im all for it. At the very least, X23 could really end up doing something good for Wolverine who, as a character, really doesnt have all that much going for himself right now. And who knows, maybe shell become her own established character, if handled properly.
Yeah, that makes sense at least, it would, if any of the recent Wolverine storylines had even tried to be deep and meaningful! Hes been flat for years! The Horseman of Apocalypse angle went nowhere, the repercussions from Origin were mild at best, Claremont, Austen, and Whedon have kept him strictly in supporting roles, and Morrison and Casey only briefly toyed with the Logan/Jean/Scott triangle before doing the exact same thing. And Ruckas relaunch of the solo series (and Tieris pre-relaunch run, to some extent) just put Logan into the familiar wandering samurai Samaritan role and left him there. Wolverine hasnt seen deep and meaningful in a long time, and X23s emergence could change that.DarienA said:The current story isn't meant to go anywhere... it's just a good old fashion Wolverine vs. everybody story. Weak. Whats so convoluted about her transition from screen to page? Craig Kyle created her specifically for Evolution, liked the character too much to see her die with the cartoon, pitched the concept to Joe Q., Joe liked it and green-lit her transition, but because of continuity differences between the show and the comic changes are being made to her backstory. Same basic thing happened with Harley Quinn.DarienA said:Bleh, her gestation was one of the most convulted ever... hey we created this character for the cartoon... hey now let's put her in the comics... but it's not really the cartoon character so now we've got to come up with a origin, etc....
Do we need another character with claws in the Marvel Universe?
BTW Superman has been pretty good lately.

In Claremont's defense, he revealed in an interview that the character was forced on him with pretty much no characterization guideline available. So he made it up as he went along. Seems fair enough to me.Spike Spiegel said:Now, you wanna talk bleh? Thats Marvels handling of X23 since her introduction, and that boils down to two things: the chronic lateness of NYX (now wrapping up in June/July), and Chris Claremont.
