This does nothing for me, and I find it ugly. But I guess options are good. What are your thoughts?

Backbone: use your own hardware
Xbox games: Currently multiplat
Next "Xbox": probably licensed to 3rd party hardware developers.

Hey MS, stop piggybacking on everyone else and do your own thing. Get the marketing guys back from the 360 days and stop giving people reasons to leave.

This Backbone POS will be the Xbox version of Zune.

"This is a xbox"
Nah bro, "This is a turd"

People brought xbox because they wanted awesome looking shit on their 61" tvs and this they've been failing on since kinect slipped out Microsofts battered and bleeding vagina, the people playing on their phones are not playing your games on that device, let alone using that ugly ass shit.

Microsoft turned Xbox into an underdog by never truly stepping up to compete, and now trying to expand it elsewhere isn’t going to cut it.

No thanks I’m only interested in a controller that will work with any case attached. I’m not constantly removing my case to play a game.

As I predicted, that “Xbox” icon logo is going to be used by all kinds of OEM devices going forwards
I don't know why people act like this is new, I have one of these from 5 years ago and it has the Xbox logo, official, it even came bundled with gamepadss, people act like if this is the something new and the consequence of Xbox dying or something....

Didnt Sony first do a thing with backbone way back when? Also i couldn't think of a worse life than gaming on my cellphone, that piece of shit invades my life enough as is, last thing i want to do is also play games on it.

Who told MS that we are dying for their brand name Xbox to the point we want to buy a specific Xbox brand controller ? This will work like any other phone controller . Just because it has Xbox sticker on it doesn’t make it special .

Super pass. Especially that these controllers don’t have hall affect sticks or triggers.

Hell I bought one from aliexpress for 45$ Canadian and it has the xbox support / iOS / android support and hall affect sticks and triggers.

Super pass

its one of those ideas, that only looks good on paper.
the shitty streaming, the cumbersome way of wrapping-unwrapping it around your phone each time, whole setup cutting through your battery-life like butter.
you try it once for novelty and then forget where you put the $100+ backbone within a week.
maybe if you dedicate an old phone just for this use-case, but doubtful even then. its just a horrible experience all around

also i imagine the experience is like once per gen then the next phones shape or size makes the peripheral obsolete.

like i stupidly have the z5 fold or whatever it is which is that dumb foldy phone (such a piece of crap i hate it) , i imagine now that causes issues with it's side and dimensions because it's irregular

That might be the worst purchase I ever made. I bought one of these when they were on some steep sale, and I used it like twice.
Just get a Portal and/or Steam Deck.
Would be nice if the PS Portal would unlock and expose the browser. I could then stream my PS5 Pro games to it, and Xbox Cloud games. The PS Portal is a slick looking unit.

I think there is some way to send a link message to your ps account to do that, I've never done it. I just followed the instructions to add Xcloud to my Steam Deck.
This is actually how I play most Xbox games now.

I got the PS5 branded version last Xmas when it was on sale for like $50. At that price, it has been well worth it. I wouldn't pay more than that though.
